Senior Engineer
The Company
At AccountsIQ, we're on a mission to deeply understand our customers and deliver technology that enriches their lives. We provide smart, feature-rich financial management software designed for ambitious businesses that have outgrown basic starter systems or seek a simpler, more affordable alternative to complex, costly ERP solutions. Our cloud-based accounting software transforms the finance function, making it easier for multi-entity businesses to capture, process, and report their financial data with ease and efficiency.
The Role
Reporting to the Director of Engineering, the successful candidate will play a key role in driving the design and building of AccountsIQ applications. We're seeking a Senior .NET Engineer with strong full-stack development experience and a specialisation in Azure operations. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in building distributed applications using DAPR, as well as hands-on skills across both frontend and backend development.
What you'll be doing
- Designing, building, and maintaining scalable full-stack applications using .NET and modern frontend frameworks (e.g. Vue.js).
- Architecting and implementing microservices-based solutions, leveraging Azure cloud services and DAPR.
- Managing cloud-native operations, including deployment, monitoring, and optimisation of distributed systems.
- Collaborate with Product, Engineering, and DevOps teams to deliver robust, high-performing software.
- Ensure best practices in code quality, security, and observability.
What you'll need
- 7+ years of professional experience in software engineering, with strong expertise in C#/.NET Core.
- Proven track record in full-stack development (frontend and backend).
- Deep knowledge of Azure cloud services (App Services, Service Bus, AKS, Functions, etc.).
- Hands-on experience with DAPR and building distributed/microservice architectures.
- Solid understanding of CI/CD pipelines and cloud-native DevOps practices.
- Experience working cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Customer Success teams.
- A self-starter mindset with good time management and analytical skills.
- BSc/MSc in Computer Science or equivalent field.
What's the hiring process?
- After application review, shortlisted candidates will be invited to complete a short one-way video interview via Hireflix. The questions are written by our Director of Engineering, and all responses are reviewed manually. We do not use AI to assess candidate responses or in any part of the recruitment process.
- You'll then have a short call with our People team to discuss your application, motivations, availability, salary expectations, and any questions you have about the role or process.
- Following this, you'll meet our Director of Engineering for a 30-minute technical discussion covering your engineering background, technical experience, and alignment with the role.
- The next stage is a practical technical interview with the hiring team, lasting around 1.5-2 hours. This includes a live coding exercise in the IDE and language of your choice, followed by a deeper discussion around architecture, system design, and your approach. You'll be encouraged to think out loud during the exercise, but you won't need to prepare anything specific in advance.
- The final stage is an informal conversation with our CTO, giving you the chance to learn more about our technology strategy, the team, and how this role contributes to the wider department.
We use the one-way video stage to give every candidate the same opportunity to answer role-relevant engineering questions, and all responses are reviewed manually by the hiring team. Please keep an eye out for an email from Hireflix, as this will be the first stage of the process following application review.
