We are seeking an experienced Person in Charge (PIC) to lead a small, bespoke residential service in Kilkenny.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate and experienced social care leader to take ownership of a new residential service opening in Kilkenny. The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in creating a safe, person-centered environment where individuals can thrive, develop independence, and enjoy meaningful lives in their community.

As PIC, you will have full responsibility for the quality and day-to-day operation of the designated centre while leading and supporting a dedicated team to deliver exceptional care and support.

About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Disability Services, the PIC will provide overall leadership and management of the residential service, ensuring compliance with HIQA regulations, organisational policies, and best practice standards.

This is a hands-on leadership role offering significant autonomy, strong organisational support, and the opportunity to influence and shape the development of a high-quality service.

Key Responsibilities

Person-Centred Service Delivery
• Ensure the rights, dignity, choice, and wellbeing of the people supported are at the centre of all decision-making.
• Oversee assessments, care planning, reviews, transitions, and support delivery.
• Promote meaningful outcomes, community inclusion, independence, and quality of life.
• Build positive relationships with families, advocates, and key stakeholders.

Leadership & Team Development
• Lead, motivate, and develop a team of Social Care Workers and Support Workers.
• Provide supervision, performance management, coaching, and professional development.
• Promote positive behaviour support, reflective practice, and trauma-informed approaches.
• Ensure effective staffing arrangements and resource management.
• Create a positive team culture focused on delivering outstanding care and support.

Governance & Compliance
• Lead and manage the designated centre in line with regulations and relevant national standards.
• Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and excellence.

Partnership Working
• Work collaboratively with families, social workers, clinicians, external professionals, and senior management.
• Contribute to the ongoing development and enhancement of disability services across the organisation.

What We're Looking For

Essential Qualifications
• QQI Level 7 or Level 8 qualification in Social Care, Social Work, Nursing, or a related discipline.
• CORU or NMBI registration where applicable.
• QQI Level 6 or higher qualification in Health or Social Care Management.

Essential Experience
• Minimum 3 years' experience working within residential services.
• Minimum 3 years' experience in a supervisory, team leader, deputy manager, PIC, or management role.
• Strong understanding of HIQA regulations, safeguarding, and person-centred practice.
• Experience leading teams and driving quality improvement.

Desirable Experience
• Experience opening, developing, or transitioning a designated centre.
• Experience supporting individuals with complex support needs.
• Training or experience in Positive Behaviour Support (PBS), Autism Practice, or Trauma-Informed Care.

Other Requirements
• Full clean driving licence.
