Role Profile
Social Prescribing is a personalised, holistic approach that supports individuals to improve their overall health and wellbeing by addressing social, emotional, and practical needs.
The Social Prescribing Officer will be responsible for developing a research-informed framework for Social Prescribing in DCU for students who are seeking to integrate more wholly into university life. They will collaborate with relevant colleagues in SS&D, the Students' Union, DCU Healthy and other relevant areas / Schools across the University to develop a network of support and outlets for social connection. They will then establish and keep updated a database of social activities available to students across the University and, in collaboration with colleagues across DCU, develop health and wellbeing programmes, as required.
Once a framework and database have been established, the role will be responsible for working with students over an agreed number of sessions to:
Once safe practices have been established, the Officer will establish a network of colleagues ('Connectors') who they will upskill to 'refer' students to the Social Prescribing Officer.

Salary Scale:
Professional 5 - €59,238 - €71,370 (refer to DCU Payscales for the applicable payscale for the role.)
Appointment will be commensurate with qualifications and experience and in line with current Government pay policy.

- Identify barriers to engagement and support individuals to overcome them.
- Develop a personalised support plan that evolves as required.
- Support students to connect with the university-based supports.
- Monitor and evaluate students' progress in establishing social connections.
