PHP Developer

We're looking for an experienced Senior PHP / Full-Stack Developer to help build and enhance scalable, cloud-based web applications. In this role, you'll primarily focus on back-end development, designing the services and systems that power our platform, while collaborating closely with front-end developers to deliver a seamless user experience.

You'll be part of a remote engineering team, solving complex technical challenges, writing clean and maintainable code, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our products and development practices.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-performance web applications using PHP and modern full stack technologies.
• Develop and maintain robust back-end services, RESTful APIs, and business logic using PHP 7.28+.
• Build and enhance front-end user interfaces using HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks.
• Collaborate with Product Managers, Designers, and Engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
• Write clean, reusable, and well-documented code that follows coding standards and best practices.
• Conduct code reviews and mentor developers to promote code quality and continuous improvement.
• Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application issues across the full technology stack.
• Optimize application performance, scalability, reliability, and security.
• Build and integrate third-party APIs, payment gateways, and external services.
• Develop automated tests and support continuous integration and continuous deployment (CI/CD) processes.
• Participate in system architecture discussions and contribute to technical design decisions.
• Monitor production systems, investigate incidents, and implement long-term solutions to improve stability.
• Work with cloud platforms and containerized environments, including Docker and AWS, where applicable.
• Identify technical debt and proactively recommend improvements to architecture, processes, and development practices.
• Collaborate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, estimation, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Work independently while collaborating effectively with a distributed remote engineering team.
• Ensure applications comply with security, privacy, and industry best practices.
• Stay current with emerging technologies and recommend tools and frameworks that improve engineering efficiency and product quality.
• Take ownership of features from initial design through development, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.

Requirements

• 5+ years of professional experience with PHP and JavaScript.
• 3+ years of experience building back-end microservices.
• 2+ years of full-stack development experience.
• Experience working with remote or distributed development teams.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) and software design principles.
• Experience developing scalable web applications and RESTful APIs.
• Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and the full software development lifecycle.
• Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and consistently deliver high-quality work.
• Experience integrating/using machine learning (AI) models.

Nice to Have

• Experience with cloud platforms such as AWS.
• Familiarity with PHP 7.2, Backbone.js, HTML, CSS, and AI-assisted coding tools, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing frameworks.
