Research Assistant, UCD School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering, 12 months
Applications are invited for a temporary post of a Research Assistant within UCD School of Chemical and Bioprocess Engineering.
Applications are invited for the position of Research Assistant to join a multi-disciplinary team on the BIOGRID project. Ireland's Biomethane Strategy aims to produce 5.7 TWh of biomethane by 2030, and BIOGRID addresses this by intensifying ex-situ biomethanation using surplus renewable hydrogen and COâ,,. The project leverages vortex-based hydrodynamic cavitation (HC) to intensify gas-liquid mass transfer and develops modular reactors using microbial biofilms of hydrogenotrophic methanogens.
The successful candidate will be based at UCD and will focus on the microbial enrichment of hydrogenotrophic methanogenic archaea and the assembly and validation of high-efficiency intensified bioreactors. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge decarbonisation technology and work with strong industry connections.
Fixed Salary: €34,129 Per Annum
Closing date: 12:00 noon (local Irish time) on 14 July 2026.
