About the Role
Bon Secours Health System is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Organisational Development & Design to lead the development of organisational culture, capability, and effectiveness across the organisation.
This key leadership role will shape organisational structures, systems, leadership capability, and ways of working that enable high performance and support the delivery of exceptional healthcare services. Working closely with the Chief People Officer and senior leaders, the successful candidate will drive organisation-wide organisational development and design initiatives, embed the People Strategy, and ensure people practices support a cohesive, high-performing, and future-ready organisation.

Bon Secours Health System is seeking an experienced and strategic Head of Organisational Development & Design to lead the development of organisational culture, capability, and effectiveness across the organisation.
This key leadership role will shape organisational structures, systems, leadership capability, and ways of working that enable high performance and support the delivery of exceptional healthcare services. Working closely with the Chief People Officer and senior leaders, the successful candidate will drive organisation-wide organisational development and design initiatives, embed the People Strategy, and ensure people practices support a cohesive, high-performing, and future-ready organisation.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic OD & Organisation Design
- Support the design, development, and implementation of the People Strategy, aligned to organisational goals and values.
- Act as a trusted advisor to the Chief People Officer and senior leaders on organisational effectiveness, workforce planning, and change.
- Lead organisation design initiatives including structural reviews, role clarity, spans and layers analysis, and operating model development.
- Ensure organisation design principles are embedded in workforce and business planning
Change Leadership & Organisational Performance
- Lead organisational change and development programmes, ensuring effective change management, stakeholder engagement, and readiness planning.
- Build internal change capability through coaching, tools, frameworks, and governance processes.
- Lead the embedding of cross-border ways of working, ensuring collaboration and cultural alignment across Ireland, the US, and the Philippines.
- Use organisational diagnostics, people analytics, and performance data to inform decisions and measure impact.
- Support the development of organisational performance measures aligned to strategic KPIs.
Culture, Leadership & Capability
- Drive culture-shaping initiatives that strengthen leadership capability, employee engagement, and organisational values.
- Develop leadership and succession frameworks that support organisational resilience and future talent pipelines.
- Lead leadership, management, and workforce development programmes that build organisational capability.
- Champion wellbeing, inclusion, and engagement initiatives that enhance employee experience.
Employee Experience & Employer Brand
- Partner with the Head of Talent Acquisition to strengthen employer brand and recognition initiatives.
- Support the development of the Employee Value Proposition (EVP) and explore innovative approaches to improve employee experience, retention, and organisational reputation.
Governance & Continuous Improvement
- Ensure OD and organisation design activities align with organisational policies, employment legislation, and best practice.
- Monitor organisational effectiveness through data, employee feedback, and performance metrics.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives that enhance organisational capability and effectiveness.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Build effective relationships with senior leaders, managers, employees, and external stakeholders.
- Facilitate workshops and engagement activities to support organisational change and development.
- Communicate organisational development priorities, progress, and outcomes to key stakeholders.
Candidate Requirements
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Organisational Psychology, Business, or a related discipline.
Desirable Qualifications
- Postgraduate qualification in Organisational Development, Organisation Design, Change Management, Leadership Development, or a related field.
- CIPD membership or equivalent professional accreditation.
Essential Experience
- Significant senior-level experience in Organisational Development, Organisation Design, organisational change, or strategic HR leadership.
- Proven track record of leading organisation-wide culture, capability, and transformation initiatives.
- Experience advising senior leaders and influencing organisational strategy.
- Demonstrated experience in organisation design, workforce planning, and operating model development.
- Experience developing leadership, talent, succession, and capability frameworks.
Desirable Experience
- Experience within healthcare, public sector, voluntary sector, or other regulated environments.
- Experience supporting large-scale organisational transformation and cultural change.
- Experience working across multiple locations or international operations.
Essential Skills
- Deep understanding of organisational development, organisation design, and systems thinking.
- Expertise in change management, culture development, and leadership development.
- Ability to interpret organisational data, KPIs, and people analytics to inform decision-making.
- Excellent facilitation, coaching, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
