Organisational Context
Purpose of the Post
The Director of Nursing (Disability Services) will be responsible for providing expert support and advice across the service.
The post holder will have overall responsibility for development and implementation of governance systems across the service.
The post holder will have responsibility for the overall management of the service in ensuring that compliance is achieved with National Regulations/Standards as set out by the Health Information
Quality Authority for Residential and Community Services and New Directions for Day Services.
The focus of the role is on improving the service users experience and quality of service, while delivering agreed Key Performance Indicators and
establishing a performance culture and planning and implementing recommendations of National Policies.
The post holder will be a member of the Disability Services Management Team and will hold a key role in creating an atmosphere
and culture where excellence can flourish with strong multidisciplinary collaboration across the service.
The post holder is expected to lead on all relevant agreed strategic planning for the service in line with HSE Policy.
Details of Service
Cavan and Monaghan Disability Services provide:
Day, Residential and Community based health and social care services.
There are 16 statutory Community based Residential Services (Designated Centres) two of which provides respite services for
Adults and Children with Intellectual Disability/Autism; and another which provides Respite for physical and Sensory Disability.
76 adults receive full time residential support through the provision of HSE residential services
70 adults who access residential services supported through Service Arrangements
Community based health and social care services are provided through:
A Community Intellectual disability Team for Adults;
A Physical and Sensory Community Team for Adults
Essential Criteria
Each candidate must, at the latest date for receipt of completed applications for the post:
1. Professional Qualifications & Experience
(a)
(i) Are registered, or are eligible for registration, in the Intellectual Disability Division of the Register of
Nurses and Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland (Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann).
And
(ii) Have 10 years post registration intellectual disability nursing experience and 5 years nursing management experience
at a minimum of Clinical Nurse Manager 2 level of which 3 must have been in an Intellectual Disability (ID) setting immediately prior to the closing date for applications.
And
(iii) Possess a post graduate qualification at not less than level 8 (QQI) in health care or management related area.
(b) Candidates must possess the requisite clinical, leadership, managerial and administrative knowledge and ability for the proper discharge of the office.
Annual Registration
Appointment to and continuation in posts that require statutory registration is dependent upon the post holder maintaining
annual registration in the relevant division of the register maintained by Bord Altranais agus Cnáimhseachais na hÉireann (Nursing Midwifery Board Ireland)
Health
A candidate for and any person holding the office must be fully competent and capable of undertaking the duties attached to the office and be
in a state of health such as would indicate a reasonable prospect of ability to render regular and efficient service.
Character
Each candidate for and any person holding the office must be of good character.

Demonstrate depth and breadth of management experience in Intellectual Disability services, as relevant to the post.

Access to transport as post will involve frequent travel
