Role Purpose
The Investment Leader will drive growth and superior client experience by defining and delivering the investment agenda for Mercer in Ireland. This senior, front-line role combines accountability for strategy and execution, delivery oversight and P&L performance. The Investment Leader will lead major client relationships and commercial pursuits, lead a high performing team and ensure
consistent excellence in servicing and implementation.

Reporting Structure
- Reports to the Wealth Leader, Mercer Ireland.
- Member of the Mercer Ireland senior leadership team.
- Key leader in the Wealth business, alongside the Wealth DC and Wealth DB Leaders.
- Builds a strong Investment leadership team, which includes the Head of Investment Consulting and the Head of Clients, Investment solutions.
We will rely on you to:
Client Growth, Retention & Experience
- Ensure client relationships are retained and expanded in coordination with other Mercer and Marsh colleagues.
- Oversee the sales pipeline for investment services in Ireland, working closely with the Investment Solutions Commercial Leader for Ireland.
- Work with the Chief Client Office for Marsh Ireland and the Head of Clients, Investment Solutions to ensure a strong client retention strategy.
- Serve as the senior client sponsor on strategic accounts; reinforce Mercer's value, deepen trust and secure long-term commitments.
- Own go-to-market messaging, investment propositions and service delivery.
- Collaborate closely with marketing teams to ensure effective campaigns that elevate our investment brand and support growth through enhanced market visibility.
Strategy, Solution Development & Financials
- Develop and execute a growth-focused investment strategy for Mercer Ireland that links client outcomes to revenue and NOI targets.
- Set priorities that explicitly connect revenue performance to client impact metrics.
- Leverage Mercer's global intellectual capital, research and implementation platform to tailor and deliver solutions appropriate to the Irish market.
- Ensure continuous evolution of client propositions and new solution development to lead the market, meet client demand and accelerate growth.
- Own financial performance for investment activities: manage budgets, forecasts and performance against targets.
- Identify and pursue strategic distribution and partnership opportunities.
People & Leadership
- Outstanding collaborator, who is exceptional at working in complex organisations with an unwavering focus on delivering market leading client outcomes.
- Lead and develop the Ireland investment team to be client-facing, commercially minded and delivery-oriented.
- Recruit, retain and develop high-performing talent.
- Foster a culture focused on proactive client engagement, service excellence and collaboration with Irish and global teams.
- Represent the investment function externally and internally, demonstrating visible leadership.
Regulatory, Governance & Compliance
- This role requires pre-approval as a controlled function (PCF 30 - Chief Investment Officer) under relevant Irish regulatory frameworks; the post-holder must maintain required approvals and meet fitness and probity standards and will be subject to the Individual Accountability Framework (IAF), the conduct standards, and the Senior Executive Accountability Regime (SEAR).
- Accountable for governance, regulatory compliance and risk management within the investment function; works closely with Legal, Compliance and Risk to maintain robust controls and support regulatory engagement.
What you will need to have:
- Proven senior leadership experience with an outstanding record of leadership and client relationship management in consulting, asset management, OCIO or related services.
- Compelling and energising people leader, who can build a culture of performance, shared success and respect.
- Deep technical expertise, combined with the ability to translate technical insight into client-facing commercial propositions and outcomes.
- Strong commercial acumen and P&L awareness; experienced in setting and delivering on commercial targets.
- Have trusted advisor presence and ability to lead executive-level client engagements.
- Robust understanding of the Irish regulatory environment.
- Proven ability to lead from the front, personally driving pitches, renewals and relationship building activities.
What makes you stand out:
- Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, mathematics or related discipline; advanced degree (MBA, MSc) preferred.
- Professional qualifications such as Actuarial, CFA, CAIA or equivalent are desirable.
- Eligibility for, or holding of, relevant regulatory approvals and licences for PCF 30 (CIO) in Ireland is required for appointment.
