The School of Pharmacology and Therapeutics are seeking a Research Assistant (RA) to support a research project that will be primarily online and desk-based. The RA will play a key role in conducting a scoping review (or other appropriate evidence review) to identify and synthesise the existing literature relevant to the project aims. Working closely with the research team, the RA will assist with developing the review protocol, undertaking literature searches, screening and selecting studies, extracting and analysing data, and contributing to the preparation of review findings.
In addition, the RA will work closely with the Project Lead to support the planning, conduct, and analysis of focus group discussions with healthcare professionals (HCPs) to better understand their learning needs and educational priorities regarding secondary stroke prevention. This will include assisting with participant recruitment, data collection, qualitative data analysis, and the synthesis of findings to inform programme development.
The evidence generated through both the literature review and focus group discussions will form the foundation for the development of an online e-learning and/or MicroCred programme for health professionals. This is an excellent opportunity for a candidate with an interest in evidence synthesis, qualitative research, knowledge translation, and digital health education to contribute to a project with potential impact on professional learning and stroke prevention practice. The RA will receive ongoing support and mentorship from the project team throughout the project.
This Research Assistant position is based within UCC Future Ageing & Brain Science and will support a project focused on identifying the learning needs of healthcare professionals in secondary stroke prevention and developing evidence-informed educational resources.
The successful candidate will work closely with the Principal Investigator (PI) and Project Lead to conduct a scoping review (or similar evidence review), support focus group discussions with healthcare professionals, and assist with data collection, analysis, and dissemination activities. Findings from this work will inform the development of an online e-learning and/or MicroCred programme.
The role offers an opportunity to gain experience in evidence synthesis, qualitative research, healthcare education, and interdisciplinary collaboration. The post holder may also contribute to project meetings, reports, presentations, publications, and other research-related activities as required.
