Cork University Business School invites applications for a motivated and research-focused individual to work as part of the "System of Systems Platform" in the Research Ireland VistaMilk Research Centre. This Post-Doctoral Researcher post offers the opportunity to contribute to an important research project that takes a stakeholder-centred, value chain approach to understanding the adoption of novel technologies and decision-making tools to optimise production with the Irish dairy sector.
The project is grounded in the concept of coopetition, examining how simultaneous competition and collaboration among stakeholders shapes data sharing and technology adoption across the dairy value chain. It investigates the factors shaping participation in data sharing activities, the uptake of different measures, and the key motivations and barriers involved through the lens of coopetition. The goal is to generate practical, evidence-based insights that can inform strategies to support stakeholder data sharing and collaboration within the Irish dairy sector. The project has implications for stakeholders across the dairy value chain and policy to enable climate action on farms, while also contributing to academic literature through a deeper understanding of the intersection of data and coopetition studies. The postdoctoral researcher will work as part of an interdisciplinary team across the VistaMilk Research Ireland Centre. As part of a collaborative, interdisciplinary team, the successful candidate will play an active role in delivering research that contributes to more effective and sustainable agricultural practices in Ireland. The PD will design and execute studies using qualitative research methodologies and analyse qualitative data collected, feeding insights back to inter-disciplinary team members as well as writing up findings for peer-reviewed publications.
Achievement of the expected progression within Post Doc and Senior Post Doc is transferable between the Irish HEI's. This can be reflected in the starting pay of a PD researcher. Similarly, as the PD scheme is an intergenerational training scheme completion of PD1 or PD 2 levels in one HEI will normally render that researcher ineligible for appointment at a similar level in another Irish HEI Researcher Career Development Framework | Irish Universities Association
