Cloud Platform Lead – Your role
We are looking for a Cloud Platform Lead to shape and evolve the cloud infrastructure that powers SoftCo’s AI-native SaaS platform and supports enterprise customers running complex finance operations at scale.
Our platform supports complex enterprise customers globally, meaning reliability, scalability and operational excellence are critical to everything we do.
Reporting to the Head of Engineering, you will lead a small team responsible for managing the cloud environments that host our customer-facing platform, ensuring they remain secure, scalable, resilient and highly available as the business continues to grow.
This role combines people leadership with deep technical ownership of our cloud infrastructure across AWS and Azure. You will lead, mentor and develop a small team of engineers while remaining closely involved in technical decision-making, platform reliability and the ongoing evolution of our cloud architecture.
You will also help drive operational excellence through modern cloud engineering practices, automation and the adoption of AI-driven tooling to improve performance, efficiency and long-term scalability.

Your responsibilities
Cloud Platform Ownership
Lead and support a small team of cloud and platform engineers
Own the reliability, availability and operational performance of the cloud infrastructure supporting SoftCo’ s SaaS platform
Manage customer-facing cloud environments across AWS and Azure, ensuring platform
Improve infrastructure automation through infrastructure-as-code and modern cloud engineering practices
Build monitoring, observability and alerting capabilities to improve system reliability and incident response
Support engineering teams with deployment pipelines, release management and cloud architecture best practices
Contribute to architecture reviews and capacity planning to support future growth
Operational Excellence Security
Ensure the security, resilience and performance of cloud environments supporting enterprise customers globally
Strengthen operational standards and governance across infrastructure environments, ensuring alignment with GDPR, SOC1, SOC2 and ISO 27001 requirements
Troubleshoot complex platform and infrastructure issues when needed and support incident resolution
Cloud Cost Optimisation Platform Efficiency
Lead cloud cost optimisation initiatives across AWS and Azure environments
Partner with cloud providers and infrastructure vendors to ensure efficient management
Identify opportunities to improve infrastructure efficiency and long-term operational scalability
Team Leadership Collaboration
Coach, mentor and support engineers while helping build a strong engineering culture focused on ownership and continuous improvement
Work closely with software engineering teams to improve deployment reliability and engineering efficiency
Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to align infrastructure priorities with broader business and product goals of cloud spend, operational tooling and platform performance
Your Profile
Education Experience
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or equivalent practical experience. Advanced degree is a plus but not required.
5+ years’ experience in cloud engineering, platform engineering, infrastructure engineering or DevOps roles
Experience working with AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure in production
Experience leading technical projects, taking ownership of technical delivery and supporting or mentoring other engineers within a collaborative engineering environment.
Experience working in SaaS, cloud infrastructure or enterprise software environments is highly desirable
Demonstrated experience leading engineering teams, with the ability to balance team leadership and people management alongside hands-on technical ownership of cloud infrastructure and operational environments.
Technical Expertise
We are looking for strong technical capability across a number of the following areas:
Strong hands-on experience working with AWS and/or Azure cloud infrastructure in
Infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, CloudFormation or similar
CI/CD pipelines, automation and modern software delivery practices
Monitoring and observability platforms such as Datadog, Grafana, Prometheus or similar, with an understanding of reliability and operational resilience principles
Container technologies such as Docker, Kubernetes, ECS or AKS
Cloud security best practices and experience working within secure or compliance-driven environments
Understanding of cloud cost optimisation, infrastructure efficiency and modern DevOps practices
Leadership Communication
Strong problem-solving ability and confidence working on complex technical challenges
Ability to lead, develop and support engineers while contributing to the growth of a collaborative and high-performing engineering team.
Strong communication skills with the ability to collaborate across technical and non-technical teams.
Comfortable operating in a dynamic scale-up environment where priorities evolve as the business grows.
