The Electronic Security Design Engineer will be responsible for both developing and reviewing Electronic Security (ES) designs during the pre-construction phase of hyperscale data centre projects. The role includes developing high-quality, comprehensive, in-house technical designs and specifications, as well as validating external consultant designs. This role ensures that all ES infrastructure and related technology plans meet project specifications, budget constraints, and industry standards, and are robustly integrated with other building systems. The role will also be responsible for supporting the construction delivery teams during the project delivery phase through to close out and handover.
Conduct detailed technical reviews of ES designs from external clients, from schematics, drawings, and specifications to determine constructability and understanding of the design intent and scope.
Lead the delivery of detailed ES design packages to be produced in-house from conceptual design through to construction documents managing and reviewing the scope being provided by external consultants.
Support Bid responses from Invitation to Tender packs received from external clients.
Support Invitation to Tender creation, issuance and response reviews from our supply chain.
Support the onsite Construction Delivery teams during the construction phase through to project close out. Assist in design queries and help resolve issues. Attend site to ensure the design is being implemented to the highest standards and compliant with the approved design.
Verify that design packages adhere to industry best practices, building codes, and client security standards
Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including designers, engineers, contractors, and project managers, to align design intent with construction execution.
Coordinate with technical counterparts from other engineering disciplines (ICT, MEP & CSA) to ensure the Electronic Security design is compatible across all building systems and physical security elements.
Lead discussions with suppliers and vendors on manufacturer selection, pricing, and technical specifications.
Drive documentation delivery through critical milestones of construction projects. Ensuring documentation is produced and correct from Shop Drawings, through to Red Line and as Built Drawings.
Conduct safety risk assessment of designs to identify and mitigate high risk activities that may be required to implement the design.
Show your expertise
Bachelor's degree in ICT, Electronic Engineering or related field.
5+ years of experience in Electronic Security systems design on large scale projects
Relevant experience in Data Centres with client projects which total over 500m
Experience or some exposure to ICT systems design preferred.
Experience of working on CDE software such as Autodesk Construction Cloud.
Proficient in the use of BIM modeling software (e.g. Revit, Navisworks) for design coordination. Strong attention to detail and documentation
Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities
