Job Overview

We’re seeking a Principal Data Scientist to play a pivotal role in advancing the AI capabilities that power our Talent Cloud platform. In this role, you will architect sophisticated ML solutions, lead complex initiatives, and partner closely with engineering and product teams to drive meaningful innovation across our GenAI, LLM, agentic AI, and NLPbased systems.

You will operate as a senior technical expert - deeply handson while influencing major product and platform decisions. You’ll mentor data scientists and ML engineers, guide best practices, and contribute to an experimentation culture grounded in scalable, responsible, and productionready AI.

This hybrid role is based at our AI development hub at Windmill Lane, Dublin 2.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design, and implement largescale AI/ML systems spanning NLP, deep learning, generative AI, agentic frameworks, and RAGbased pipelines.
  • Develop productiongrade model training, evaluation, and monitoring workflows that support scalable, repeatable deployments.
  • Build and enhance automated data processing frameworks, including ingestion, cleaning, transformation, feature engineering, and validation.
  • Lead major AIdriven projects in close collaboration with engineering, product management, user experience, and platform teams.
  • Provide seniorlevel technical mentorship to data scientists, ML engineers, and crossfunctional partners, elevating modeling rigor and engineering excellence.
  • Establish and refine best practices related to ML reproducibility, model governance, observability, fairness, and responsible AI principles.
  • Conduct applied research on emerging ML methods—including LLM adaptation, prompting strategies, model optimization, vector search/RAG, and agentbased orchestration—and translate findings into highimpact product capabilities.
  • Prototype, experiment, evaluate, and operationalize new AI features, contributing to the advancement of our AI/ML roadmap.
  • Present technical insights, modeling results, and architectural recommendations to senior leadership and contribute to roadmap prioritization.
  • Support product teams in identifying opportunities for AI integration, offering guidance on feasibility, complexity, and expected value.
  • Collaborate with platform and infrastructure teams to ensure models and pipelines meet performance, reliability, and scalability expectations.
  • Participate in external knowledgesharing opportunities, contributing to iCIMS’ reputation in the AI/ML community when appropriate.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Machine Learning, Statistics, Engineering, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
  • 10+ years of handson experience developing machine learning, deep learning, NLP, or generative AI systems in production environments.
  • Proven experience leading complex AI/ML initiatives from initial research through deployment.
  • Strong software engineering skills, including experience with distributed systems, scalable ML infrastructure, and MLOps workflows.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor technical contributors and collaborate effectively with crossfunctional peers.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate technical concepts into businessoriented insights and influence decisionmaking.
  • Strong analytical thinking, experimentation discipline, and problemsolving capabilities
