Role Overview
We are seeking a hands-on Cyber Security Analyst to join our team. This role is focused on day-to-day security operations, threat monitoring, and control implementation across a hybrid environment and IT compliance framework.
Reporting to the Head of ICT, you will work independently in supporting our security tooling and responding to threats, while being supported in developing your understanding of how security controls operate within a regulated framework.
This role is ideal for a mid-level security professional who enjoys practical, hands-on work, but also wants exposure to how security aligns with industry standards and regulatory expectations.
What You'll Do
Technical Security Operations (50%)
Endpoint, Threat SIEM Monitoring: Assist in monitoring and administering endpoint security via CrowdStrike Falcon, Microsoft Intune (MDM), and SIEM solutions, acting as a responder for security alerts and technical incident management.
Cloud Identity Security: Support the administration of Entra ID (formerly Azure AD) to help enforce Identity and Access Management (IAM), Conditional Access, and Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) protocols.
Network Data Protection: Assist in the management of corporate firewalls, VPN access, and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) policies via Microsoft Purview to safeguard member data and the Cardholder Data Environment (CDE).
Vulnerability Management: Execute routine vulnerability scans, coordinate remediation efforts with IT teams, and assist with annual third-party Penetration Testing.
IT Compliance, Risk Governance (50%)
Risk Asset Management: Support the Head of ICT in updating the Internal ICT Risk Register and maintaining an accurate IT Asset inventory. Assist in foundational risk assessments for new technologies, including emerging AI tools.
Framework Support: Work closely with the Head of ICT to help align operational controls with ISO 27001, PCI DSS, DORA, GDPR, the EU AI Act, and Central Bank of Ireland (CBI) guidelines.
Process Governance: Participate in IT security workflows, helping ensure internal teams adhere to established Incident and Change Management protocols.
Security Culture: Help administer the Security Awareness Training platform, organising phishing simulations and promoting best practices across the Credit Union.
Key Requirements Qualifications
Experience: 3–5 years in a Cyber Security, Information Security, or similar role.
Technical Capability: Solid hands-on experience with Microsoft Security Ecosystems (Azure, M365, Entra ID, Intune), SIEM (Security Information and Event Management) platforms, and modern EDR/XDR platforms (CrowdStrike experience is a strong advantage).
Identity Access Management (IAM): Practical experience configuring and troubleshooting Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) and conditional access policies.
Network Firewall Security: Practical knowledge and experience with corporate firewalls, secure VPN access, and core network security concepts.
Compliance AI Awareness: A strong foundational understanding of risk management frameworks (e.g., ISO 27001, GDPR, DORA, PCI DSS) alongside an awareness of secure AI deployment and governance.
Strong communication skills with the ability to translate and explain complex technical threats to non-technical leadership.
Nice to Have
Experience within a regulated environment (financial services preferred but not essential).

Education Certifications: Third Level Qualification. Mid-level industry certifications such as CompTIA Security+/CySA+, Microsoft SC-200, or SSCP are highly advantageous.

Competitive base salary of €50,000 - €75,000 per annum, dependent on experience.

The successful candidate will be required to satisfy the minimum competency requirements as set out in the Central Bank Guidelines, (QFA/APA). The Credit Union will provide financial support for the successful candidate to obtain this qualification if they do not have it currently.
