Calibration Operative role overview:
The Calibration Operative role is based in Cork, Ireland and is responsible for supporting routine mass calibration activities within the calibration facility by carrying out operational tasks associated with weighing equipment and automated calibration systems. The role involves the safe and accurate handling, loading, and unloading of calibrated weights onto weighing instruments and robotic systems while following established procedures and maintaining a clean and organised work area. Working closely with calibration team, the Calibration Operative supports scheduled calibration activities, performs basic operational checks, and ensures calibration records and documentation are completed accurately. The successful candidate will demonstrate reliability, attention to detail, and a practical hands on approach, with the ability to follow procedures and work effectively within a regulated laboratory environment.
Responsibilities
Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities:
- Support routine mass calibration activities within the calibration facility in accordance with company procedures and quality standards.
- Safely handle, move, load, and unload calibrated weights onto weighing instruments and automated calibration systems.
- Assist with the setup, operation, and basic checks of weighing and calibration equipment.
- Maintain accurate records and documentation related to calibration activities and equipment status.
- Ensure work areas, equipment, and calibration stations are kept clean, organised, and compliant with health and safety requirements.
- Work closely with calibration technicians and supervisors to support daily operational activities and workflow requirements.
- Identify and report equipment issues, damaged weights, or operational concerns to the appropriate personnel.
- Follow all company procedures, safety guidelines, and training requirements within a regulated laboratory environment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and assist in other calibration or operational activities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Experience and Key Competencies:
- Previous experience working within an operational, manufacturing, warehouse, laboratory, or production environment is desirable.
- Experience handling equipment, materials, or repetitive operational tasks in a safe and controlled manner would be advantageous.
- A Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification is desirable, however, relevant practical experience and a strong work ethic will also be considered.
- Good attention to detail and the ability to follow standard operating procedures and work instructions accurately.
- Comfortable working in a hands on role involving the movement and handling of calibrated weights and equipment.
- This is a physically active role requiring regular manual handling of calibrated weights, prolonged periods of standing, and adherence to safe manual handling practices.
- Basic computer skills, including familiarity with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office applications, would be beneficial.
- Strong organisational and time management skills with the ability to work effectively within a team environment.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with technicians, supervisors, and other operational personnel.
- A proactive and reliable approach to work, with a strong focus on quality, safety, and compliance.
- Willingness to learn and develop within the calibration and laboratory environment, including supporting other operational activities as required.
