Apple
Cork, Cork, Ireland
Full Time
Reference: 1761029429
At Apple, great ideas can come from anywhere, and our dedicated internal teams are at the heart of our innovation. The Information Systems & Technology (IS&T) organization is the backbone of Apple's business, and the IS&T Knowledge and Training (K&T) team is committed to enabling our global workforce. We accomplish this by offering high-quality, collaboratively developed learning experiences and knowledge resources that equip the Apple workforce with the knowledge and skills to do their life's best work, better.
Employee Experience and Productivity (EEP) is part of IS&T and delivers some of the most widely used communication and productivity technology and services across Apple - from tools that enable collaboration to the support teams that keep Apple's workforce running. EEP also leads user experience design and research, and manages the systems behind Apple's original content studios.
As a Knowledge and Training Technical Writer, you'll make Apple's complex internal systems and tools accessible to the people who use them every day. This dynamic role sits at the intersection of communication and technology, blending technical writing, instructional design, and copyediting skills, offering a unique opportunity to significantly impact the productivity and success of Apple's global workforce.
Description
In this role, you'll be the link between our internal technologies and the global workforce that relies on them. You'll collaborate with cross-functional partners, engineering teams, and leaders to identify training requirements, define documentation objectives, and align deliverables with business and product priorities for supported tools. You'll get up to speed quickly on new tools and translate their complexity into clear, engaging content for diverse internal audiences. You'll juggle multiple documentation initiatives at once, hold the quality bar, and build alignment across stakeholders when priorities and opinions diverge. We value writers who have successfully worked with editors and style guides, are open to learning, embrace feedback, thrive in iteration, and understand that the best content is always a collaboration.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Technical Communication, English, Journalism, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent practical work experience.
Experience as a Technical Writer, ideally in a technical environment with exposure to internal-facing tools, enterprise software, or developer documentation.
Demonstrated experience producing user-facing documentation such as user guides, how-to articles, troubleshooting guides, or knowledge base content.
Writing samples or portfolio demonstrating recent technical documentation work (e.g., user guides, how-to articles, knowledge base content).
Experience using a content management system or documentation platform (such as Drupal, Confluence, Markdown-based tooling, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
Experience with Markdown, Git-based docs-as-code workflows, or static site generators.
Working understanding of information architecture principles and how users seek information.
Familiarity with the Apple Style Guide and The Chicago Manual of Style.
Proficiency with Apple's productivity suite (Pages, Keynote, Numbers).
Experience managing assignments with project, task, or ticketing systems such as Wrike, Asana, Jira, or HelpCentral.
Working knowledge of macOS and iOS operating systems and Apple software, including troubleshooting techniques.
Experience or genuine curiosity working with AI and GenAI tools, including using them to enhance content creation, documentation workflows, or training and development.
Experience writing for a global audience with an awareness of accessibility considerations.
A genuine passion for helping people maximize their use of technology and productivity tools.
Master's degree, specialized degrees in technical communication, or certifications in technical writing are a plus.
