Headquartered in Cambridge, MA, with employees across the globe, we're building a company where people can do their best work and grow their careers.

We're looking for an EMEA Payroll Analyst to join our global payroll team. This individual contributor will be a subject-matter expert and key partner for our EMEA payroll operations. You'll own complex payroll processes, drive automation and process improvements, and serve as a trusted advisor to partners across Finance and People Operations. This role requires deep technical payroll expertise, a data-driven mindset, and the ability to lead through influence in a fast-paced, highly collaborative, and remote-friendly environment.

In this role, you will:

  • Act as a subject matter expert for complex payroll environments (e.g., France, Germany), including statutory requirements, terminations, and variable pay considerations
  • Drive scalable, standardized payroll processes across EMEA while maintaining country-specific compliance
  • Partner cross-functionally with HR, Finance, Accounting, IT, and external vendors to ensure payroll accuracy and alignment with upstream/downstream processes
  • Maintain operational excellence across the full payroll lifecycle (inputs processing validation filings post-payroll activities)
  • Ensure timely and accurate execution of all statutory filings, tax payments, and year-end reporting requirements
  • Manage relationships with third-party payroll providers to ensure service quality, compliance, and continuous improvement
  • Support and validate payroll inputs including benefits, deductions, taxable income (e.g., equity, awards, relocation, one-time payments)
  • Respond to employee payroll inquiries with a strong focus on accuracy, clarity, and service
  • Own and execute on complex and sensitive payroll projects (e.g., compliance remediation, audits, process redesign)
  • Support expatriate and shadow payroll processes across jurisdictions
  • Partner with HR to ensure proper setup and tracking of all leave types (vacation, sick, statutory leaves) where required for payroll compliance
  • Contribute to new country payroll implementations and global expansion efforts
  • Take ownership of ambiguous problems, drive clarity, and lead solutions end-to-end without requiring constant direction
  • Operate effectively in a fast-paced, evolving environment where priorities may shift and not everything is fully defined

AI-First & Systems Focus

  • Leverage Workday and AI-driven tools to automate payroll processes, reduce manual effort, and improve accuracy
  • Identify opportunities to use automation and AI to streamline calculations, validations, and reporting
  • Use payroll data to provide insights and improve decision-making across Finance and HR
  • Continuously evaluate and improve systems, integrations, and data flows across payroll, HRIS, and finance tools

Controls & Compliance

  • Maintain strong knowledge of SOX controls, documentation, and audit requirements
  • Ensure payroll processes are well-documented, controlled, and audit-ready
  • Proactively identify and mitigate compliance risks across jurisdictions

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of payroll experience with a focus on EMEA payroll processing and compliance
  • Strong experience managing complex payrolls (e.g., France, Germany) and navigating country-specific regulations
  • Experience working across multiple EMEA countries in a multinational environment (required)
  • Deep understanding of statutory requirements (tax, labor law, social security, pensions, benefits, terminations, transfers)
  • Experience with Workday Payroll strongly preferred
  • Experience processing equity transactions (RSUs, stock options, ESPP)
  • Experience with expatriate / shadow payroll (preferred)
  • IPASS qualification required

Skills & Attributes

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with large data sets
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, data analysis)
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Comfortable working in ambiguity and able to independently prioritize, make decisions, and move work forward
  • High attention to detail and strong ownership mindset
  • Strong ownership mindset with the ability to lead initiatives and drive outcomes without close supervision
  • Ability to adapt quickly, pivot as needed, and operate effectively in a complex, rapidly changing global environment
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Proven ability to step into undefined situations, assess risk, and build structure where none exists
  • Strong customer service orientation
  • High level of integrity and confidentiality

Additional

  • Fluent in Business English (written and spoken)
  • Additional European languages are a plus
  • Global payroll experience strongly preferred

Must have a global mindset and ability to operate across diverse regulatory environments
