Graduate Research & Development Engineer

As we continue to innovate, we're looking for a Graduate Product Development Engineers to join our R&D team. This is an exciting opportunity for a recent engineering graduate to develop their technical skills while working on the design and development of next-generation busbar trunking systems.
You'll work alongside experienced engineers throughout the product development lifecycle, gaining hands-on experience in product design, prototyping, testing and launching new products that support some of the world's most demanding industries.
What you'll doAs part of our Product Development team, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Assist in the design and development of new products from concept through to launch.
- Create 3D models and 2D engineering drawings using CAD software such as Creo or SolidWorks.
- Support prototype builds, testing and design validation activities.
- Learn how to develop products that meet international standards such as IEC 61439 and UL857.
- Work with manufacturing, sourcing, marketing and product management teams to bring new ideas to life.
- Help identify opportunities to improve existing products through engineering change processes.
- Contribute to product risk assessments (DFMEA) and design reviews.
- Maintain engineering drawings and technical documentation using PLM systems.
- Stay up to date with new technologies and engineering best practices.
We're interested in enthusiastic graduates who enjoy solving problems and want to build a career in product development.
You'll ideally have:
- A Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Manufacturing Engineering or a related discipline.
- Experience using 3D CAD software such as Creo, SolidWorks or similar (through university projects, internships or placements).
- Understanding of engineering drawings, GD&T and manufacturing principles.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Good communication and teamwork skills.
- A willingness to learn and take on new challenges.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
Exposure through university projects, internships or placements to:
- Manufacturing or product development environments.
- Sheet metal, plastics or mechanical assemblies.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM) or Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Microsoft Office and engineering documentation tools.
- Data centre or power distribution technologies (not essential).
