Purpose of the Role

The purpose of this roles will provide clinical leadership to a designated nursing team and ensure the provision of high quality nursing care to children and families:
  • To assist in the safe, effective and efficient management of the department within allocated resources and to undertake delegated responsibility for the department in the absence of the CNM 2.
  • To ensure the provision of a high standard of care to the children and their extended family is consistent with the mission, vision, values and strategic plan of the hospital.
  • In carrying out these duties, confidentiality surrounding the child's admission and treatment must be maintained at all times

To Note:

Two Specified Purpose Contract are availble with the following allocations:

One post holder will be based as CNM1 in St Philomena's ward and the other post holder will be based in St Patrick's ward.

Both post holders will work as part of the management team and report directly to the 1.5wte CNM2's managing both St Patricks and St Philomena's ward.

Essential Criteria:
• Be registered on the Children's Division and/or the General Division of the Register of Nurses & Midwives maintained by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Ireland.
• Must have a minimum of 3 years post qualification experience, two of which must be recent experience within Children's nursing.
• Evidence of on-going education.
• Have proven clinical and managerial ability, leadership, communication and organisational skills.
