Orthopaedic Navigator and Access Initiatives Lead

Purpose of the role

This role integrates the functions of Orthopaedic Access Initiative Lead and Patient Navigator within Spinal/Orthopaedic Services. The post holder will provide operational leadership for access initiatives (including insourcing/outsourcing and waiting list management) while acting as a central patient navigator to support children, young people and families through complex orthopaedic care pathways.

The role aims to:
  • Improve timely access to orthopaedic and spinal services
  • Enhance patient and family experience through coordinated navigation support
  • Ensure effective utilisation of national and international care options
  • Drive quality improvement, service redesign, and operational efficiency

Essential Criteria
  • Achieved Leaving Certificate or equivalent qualification not less than Level 6 in the QQI framework or equivalent qualification.
  • Have at least 3 years relevant experience within a hospital setting with a minimum of one year at grade V level.
  • 1 year management / supervisory experience
  • Have a high level of organisational skills.
  • Have excellent knowledge of waiting list management and associated policies
