We are now seeking a Quality Engineering Specialist with strong backend testing expertise to join our growing team within the fintech and payments domain. In this role, you'll take ownership of critical testing initiatives, working independently to design, implement and execute robust quality engineering strategies across complex backend systems. You'll play a key role in ensuring the reliability and performance of payment terminal platforms and device management services, contributing directly to high-impact, customer-facing solutions.

This position is Nenagh based

Responsibilities

• Works on multiple phases of a project and/or multiple small projects of moderate scope and sometimes complex assignments.
  Selects appropriate standards, methods, tools and applications for project use.
• Creates and executes basic non-functional test scripts following a given set of guidelines and sets up test environments, data and monitors.
• Designs, codes, tests and documents simple programs or scripts and assist in the implementation of software which forms part of a properly engineered system.
• Accurately identifies project risks and reports effectively to relevant stakeholders Manages issues, risks, actions, dependencies, and defects to the success of the project.
• Coordinates the information gathering and reporting process, conducting research to define problems and preparing responses to anticipated questions.
• Creates traceability records, from test cases back to requirements. Reports on system quality and collects metrics on test cases.
• Maintains the status of project and provides guidance to the work of junior team members, works across teams to achieve group goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field, or equivalent work experience.

Desirable:

• ISTQB Foundation.
• Certification in NFT tools such as LoadRunner, LoadUI, MSVS, Fortify, etc.
• Additional learnings or certification in Quality Engineering, such as CISSP and CISM.

Essential skills

• Experience and knowledge in NFT, performance and test automation tools such as Performance Center/LoadRunner/StormRunner, LoadUI, JMeter, Neoload, BlazeMeter, SilkTest, Service Virtualisation, Jenkins, Selenium, UFT, Cucumber, Gherkin, TOSCA, BurpSuite, Fortify, Rational, ALM, Jira, etc.
• Intermediate theoretical knowledge in quality engineering methodologies and has awareness of opportunities provided by new and emerging technologies/products.
• Has good applications/technology knowledge and problem solving skills, building on specialist domain knowledge and has practical experience of engineering tools and platforms required to deliver.
• Proficient in at least one programming language (ideally VB, Java or C#) and script language (i.e. Shell, Perl).
• Knowledge of Cloud concepts and virtualisation.
• Client-facing ability and quality verbal and written communication.
• Ability to self-manage and be adaptable.

Experience

• 3-5+ years of experience testing backend systems, preferably in payment terminal or device management platforms.
• Strong expertise in API automation and backend testing, with minimal dependency on UI layers.
• Hands-on experience with automation frameworks (Cucumber, REST Assured, Serenity) and scripting in Java, JavaScript, and TypeScript.
• Proven experience testing terminal configuration services, device parameters, versioned configurations, or similar backend workflows.
• Experience integrating test automation into CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab.
• Test payment applications on PAX Android POS terminals
• Familiarity with cloud-native deployments, microservices architectures, and container orchestration.
• Proficiency with Agile collaboration tools including Git, Jira, Confluence, and Gerrit.
• Experience in the fintech or payments domain, especially related to cards, terminals, and backend processing systems.
