Junior Claims Analyst - Reinsurance
We're looking for a Junior Claims Analyst - Reinsurance.
We are seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Junior Claims Analyst to support the efficient management of reinsurance claims within our Claims function. Reporting to the VP, Reinsurance Claims Manager, this role offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career professional to develop technical expertise in a dynamic and collaborative environment.
The successful candidate will assist in the end-to-end administration of reinsurance claims, including the triage of incoming communications, establishment of first notices of loss, and processing of claim transactions in accordance with contractual terms and internal guidelines. The position involves the review of claim documentation and policy wordings to support coverage determinations, as well as the evaluation of exposures and contribution to reserve and payment recommendations.
We prefer to base the position in in the New York tri-state area, but we will consider a remote working location for appropriately qualified candidates.
What you will help us do
- Triaging: Assess, prioritize, and route incoming claims communications based on urgency and complexity across the reinsurance claims team
- Setting up first notices of loss
- Communicate with brokers regarding reinsurance claims
- Adjust and process daily reinsurance claim activity across a variety of classes based on contract terms
- Examine new and existing reinsurance claims
- Evaluate actual and potential exposures, and recommend accurate and timely reserves and payments
- Collaborate with other functions across the company to provide periodic updates on reinsurance claim matters
- Prepare reports and communicate findings in regular claim meetings
- Update and maintain claim records within claims systems to ensure accuracy and completeness.
- Determine coverage for straightforward claims by reviewing applicable policy terms and conditions.
- Ensure compliance with internal corporate guidelines, processes and procedures
- Identify opportunities for process improvements within claims workflows
- Contribute to team and departmental quality and productivity standards, with a strong focus on accuracy and attention to detail
- Provide back-up support to other areas of the Claims department as needed
- Undertake continuing education and keep up to date with developments in the reinsurance industry.
- Provide customer service support by responding to calls, emails, and inquiries related to claim files
- Perform additional responsibilities as required to support the needs of the organization.
What you require for the role
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience preferred
- 1 to 5 years' experience in claims administration, (re)insurance operations, or a related field preferably within the insurance and/or reinsurance industry
- Attention to detail with the ability to handle high volumes of data accurately
- Ability to prioritize and manage deadlines
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Willingness to develop varied skills and knowledge within a fast-paced and growing insurance and reinsurance company
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and database systems, with strong working knowledge of PowerPoint and Excel
- Knowledge of ImageRight, SICS or a similar claims system is an advantage
- Ability to incorporate changing processes with AI adoption
- Strong communications skills
- Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team
Salary Range: $60,000 to $90,000 per year
