Murphy is recruiting for a Senior Mechanical Supervisor to work with our Natural Resources team in an Oil Refinery in East Cork.

We maintain, operate, modify, design, construct and commission new energy networks and facilities across four countries; guiding our customers through the challenges of the energy transition and supporting their commitments to achieve net zero emissions. We provide safe and reliable specialist services as a trusted Engineering, Procure, Fabrication, Maintain and Decommissioning (EPFCM&D) partner. This includes work with onshore and offshore oil, gas pipelines, gas diversions and renewable energies.

What you will be doing:
  • Lead, coordinate, and supervise all mechanical and pipefitting activities on site, taking responsibility for the day-to-day running of the crew.
  • Demonstrate experience in valve installation, bolting, torquing, large-bore piping, and small-bore tubing works.
  • Ensure all works are carried out safely, to agreed timescales, and in accordance with required quality standards and specification
  • Oversee planning, sequencing, and scheduling of mechanical works so the team stays productive and the project stays on schedule.
  • Attend and actively contribute to client and contractor coordination meetings, providing progress updates and technical input as required.
  • Set clear daily and weekly work plans, assign tasks, monitor performance, and proactively resolve issues to maintain progress.
  • Support project engineering and management teams with progress reporting, resource forecasting, and technical problem-solving.
  • Mentor and guide Mechanical Supervisors and crew members to promote strong work practices, safety culture, and productivity.


Who we are looking for:
  • Suitably qualified in mechanical fitting, Torque/Tensioning, Tubing, etc
  • Proven on-site experience in mechanical installation, pipefitting, valve installation, and related works.
  • Ability to follow, interpret and explain technical instructions.
  • Demonstrated experience leading crews, managing work fronts, planning activities, and coordinating multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to produce clear daily and weekly production reports and confidently engage in client meetings.
  • Previous supervisory experience on oil, gas, or refinery projects (experience in water or pharmaceutical sectors may also be considered).
  • Proactive, organised, and capable of making informed decisions in a fast-moving site environment.
