Purpose of the role

The Portering Trainer (Grade IV) is responsible for the development, coordination, delivery, and evaluation of a comprehensive training and development programme for the CHI Portering Services Departments. The role ensures that all portering personnel are trained, competent, and compliant with hospital policies, procedures, and national standards.

The post holder will support the safe and efficient delivery of portering services, enabling effective patient flow, infection prevention and control, and high-quality service delivery. The role will also contribute to the strategic development of the department, supporting the transition to the National Children's Hospital Ireland (NCHI) and the advancement of portering services as a professional, digitally enabled, and nationally leading function.

Essential Criteria
  • Leaving Certificate or QQI Level 6 in Healthcare, Training & Development or related discipline or any equivalent qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in hospital portering management or supervision
  • Proficiency in IT systems and digital tools
