Job Description

Senior Software Engineer - .NET (Depositary Services)

Overview

US Bank is expanding its technology capabilities supporting the Depositary Services function across Europe. We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer to play a key role in the design, development, and evolution of enterprise-grade financial systems used by teams in Ireland and Luxembourg. This role is part of the European technology team and requires close collaboration with business stakeholders, data providers, and cross-functional engineering teams. The successful candidate will bring strong expertise in the .NET ecosystem, along with a proven track record of delivering scalable, high-quality solutions in complex environments. As a senior engineer, you will own key components of the platform, contribute to architectural decisions, and help raise engineering standards across the team. You will work across a full-stack environment, with a primary focus on building scalable backend services and supporting frontend integration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Own the design and architecture of core components within the depositary platform, ensuring alignment with enterprise standards and long-term system evolution
  • Design, develop, and enhance scalable backend services using the .NET stack, supporting complex financial data workflows and regulatory processes
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to elicit, analyse, and translate business requirements into robust technical solutions
  • Lead technical design discussions, providing guidance on best practices, trade-offs, and system architecture
  • Plan and deliver system upgrades and enhancements, ensuring high quality, reliability, and alignment with business priorities
  • Ensure production stability, including incident ownership, troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement of system reliability
  • Design and manage integrations with internal and external data providers, including ETL processes and data pipelines
  • Drive automation and efficiency improvements across the development lifecycle, including build, deployment, and monitoring processes
  • Contribute to technical strategy and roadmap, identifying opportunities to improve scalability, performance, and maintainability
  • Mentor and support other engineers, contributing to code reviews, knowledge sharing, and engineering best practices
  • Support and enhance operational systems, including Depositary dashboards and compliance monitoring systems (e.g., rule configuration and data exception management)


Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience
  • 5+ years of professional software engineering experience, with strong focus on the .NET ecosystem (C#, ASP.NET, .NET Core)
  • Proven track record of delivering scalable, high-quality software solutions in production environments
  • Strong experience in system design and architecture, particularly in distributed or service-based systems
  • Solid understanding of relational databases, data modelling, and performance optimisation
  • Experience working with data pipelines, ETL processes, and multi-source data integration


Preferred Skills / Experience
  • Experience within financial services, particularly Depositary Services or similar regulated domains
  • Familiarity with large-scale data systems, including regulatory reporting or reconciliation workflows
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and organisational skills
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working in Agile environments and collaborating across distributed teams


Technical Skills
  • Advanced experience with C#, .NET Core, ASP.NET, and Web API development
  • Strong experience designing and building RESTful APIs and service-oriented architectures
  • Solid expertise in SQL Server (or equivalent), including database design and query optimisation
  • Experience building and supporting ETL pipelines and complex data integrations
  • Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and modern DevOps practices
  • Familiarity with frontend integration technologies (e.g., Telerik Kendo UI or similar frameworks)
  • Experience with version control systems such as Git

Location Expectation

This is a hybrid role based in Dublin City Centre, with an expectation of 3 or more days per week in the office, and flexibility to work remotely on other days.
