Senior GIS Professional
The Senior GIS Professional will lead the delivery of GIS services supporting the development of a national mapping dataset. The role includes technical leadership, stakeholder engagement with local authorities and public-sector bodies, and oversight of GIS work packages to ensure consistent, accurate and timely delivery. This is an independent contractor role on a 12 month contract.
Key Responsibilities
Lead GIS delivery across all project workstreams
Engage directly with local authorities and public-sector stakeholders to identify GIS support requirements
Define, plan and oversee GIS work packages aligned to programme objectives
Ensure quality, consistency and integrity of national spatial datasets
Provide technical leadership and guidance to GIS Analysts
Oversee integration, validation and management of spatial datasets
Monitor progress and provide regular reporting to the client
Support delivery against critical deadlines, particularly during peak project cycles
Essential Experience and Skills
Minimum of 5 years' professional experience in GIS
Advanced proficiency in ESRI ArcGIS platform and associated tools
Strong experience delivering GIS projects involving multiple stakeholders
Demonstrated capability in spatial data analysis, validation and management
Proven ability to lead technical teams and manage workload delivery
Desirable Experience
Experience working with planning, zoning or land use datasets
Experience engaging with public sector bodies, particularly local authorities
Experience delivering national or multi-agency GIS programmes
Familiarity with regulatory or policy-driven mapping initiatives
