Role Purpose

Reporting to the Brewery Manager, the Automation Engineer/PAPI is responsible for the ownership, maintenance, reliability, and continuous improvement of onsite automation system hardware and software assets.

The successful candidate will provide technical leadership and automation support across maintenance, process improvement, fault finding, operations, quality, and capital projects, while also playing a key role in the site's digital transformation initiatives.

Key Responsibilities
• Experience in troubleshooting, maintaining, and developing software platforms including Rockwell FactoryTalk Studio, Allen-Bradley PLCs, Siemens systems, Wonderware InTouch, and AVEVA Historian.
• Understanding of industrial communication protocols such as Modbus, OPC, Profibus, CANbus, etc.
• Support fault finding activities across multiple departments including Maintenance, Operations, Quality, IT, and Digital & Technology (D&T).
• Demonstrates a strong understanding of basic and advanced process control algorithms, including PID loop tuning.
• Strong knowledge of physics, process engineering, and instrumentation principles.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings such as P&IDs, electrical schematics, and control diagrams.
• Provide technical consultation and expertise on machine operation, process functionality, and equipment working principles referring to Automation setup.
• Well versed in Ladder Logic, SQL queries, Structured Text, and demonstrates a strong aptitude for programming concepts.
• Strong Microsoft application capabilities including Data Analytics, Excel, and Power BI.
• Highly analytical and data driven.
• Experience in reviewing and maintaining system architectures, standards, change control procedures, and system backups.
• Understanding of cGMP, and GAMP principles including validation, change control, documentation, and compliance requirements for automated manufacturing systems.
• Experience with system integration involving MES, ERP, and other third-party platforms.
• Strong adaptability towards new software technologies, system integrations, and digital deployments.
• Ability to understand and lead OT cybersecurity concepts, governance, and deployment activities.
• Review and support OT network architecture including zones, VLANs, firewalls, and segmentation strategies in coordination with Digital & Technology (D&T) teams.
• Strong understanding of Lean and TPM principles with a zero-loss mentality.
• Effective communicator with the capability to establish strong collaborative working relationships across multiple stakeholders within the organisation.
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Automation, or related field.
• Minimum 3 Years of relevant experience working in a manufacturing environment.
