About the AI Futures Programme

The AI Futures Programme is a flagship initiative of National College of Ireland designed to widen participation in higher education and create pathways into technology, artificial intelligence, financial services, apprenticeships, employment, and further study.

Supported through strategic partnerships with organisations including Citi, Salesforce, and JP Morgan Chase, the programme combines learning in artificial intelligence, financial technology, employability, enterprise, mentoring, industry engagement, and student support.

The programme has been specifically designed to support young people who may not traditionally engage with higher education and aims to create meaningful pathways into employment, apprenticeships, further education, and higher education. The inaugural cohort of learners will commence in September 2026.

Role Purpose

The Project Co-ordinator - AI Futures Recruitment & Outreach will support the successful launch of the AI Futures Programme by leading learner recruitment, community outreach, stakeholder engagement, and promotional activities for the inaugural student cohort.

Reporting to the Director of Development & External Engagement, the postholder will work closely with colleagues across the School of Computing, Marketing, Admissions, Student Services, and external stakeholders to build awareness of the programme, engage prospective learners, and develop recruitment pipelines within target communities.

This is a highly visible and externally facing role focused on widening participation and ensuring that young people who may not traditionally engage with higher education are aware of and supported to apply for the programme.

The successful candidate will play a key role in recruiting the programme's first cohort of learners and establishing the AI Futures Programme within communities across Dublin.

Key Responsibilities

Learner Recruitment
  • Support delivery of the AI Futures student recruitment campaign.
  • Engage directly with prospective students and applicants.
  • Promote the programme through information sessions, presentations, and one-to-one engagement.
  • Support applicants throughout the enquiry, application, and enrolment process.
  • Maintain and monitor recruitment pipelines and applicant databases.
  • Track enquiry, application, offer, and enrolment conversion rates.
  • Assist in achieving the target of 30 enrolled students for the inaugural programme intake.

Community Outreach and Engagement
  • Build relationships with Youthreach centres, schools, School Completion Programme teams, community organisations, youth services, and employment services.
  • Promote the programme through local community networks.
  • Organise and deliver outreach presentations and information events.
  • Attend community, youth, and education-related events.
  • Develop referral pathways with organisations working with young people from underrepresented communities.
  • Support NCI's widening participation and social inclusion objectives.

Marketing and Communications
  • Work closely with NCI's Marketing Department to support implementation of the AI Futures promotional campaign.
  • Assist in the creation of social media content and digital communications.
  • Support the development and distribution of promotional materials.
  • Promote learner stories, programme updates, and recruitment activities through appropriate channels.
  • Support media and public relations activities where appropriate.
  • Ensure consistent messaging and branding across all recruitment activities.

Stakeholder Engagement
  • Act as a key point of contact for referral organisations and community partners.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Coordinate meetings, information sessions, and stakeholder communications.
  • Support engagement activities involving programme partners including Citi, Salesforce, and JP Morgan Chase.
  • Ensure stakeholders are kept informed of programme developments and recruitment opportunities.

Events and Programme Promotion
  • Organise programme information sessions, campus visits, and recruitment events.
  • Support programme launches and promotional activities.
  • Represent NCI and the AI Futures Programme at community and stakeholder events.
  • Coordinate logistics and communications for recruitment-related activities.

Monitoring and Reporting
  • Maintain accurate records of recruitment, outreach, and stakeholder engagement activity.
  • Prepare weekly recruitment pipeline and outreach reports.
  • Monitor progress against agreed recruitment targets.
  • Provide regular updates to the Director of Development & External Engagement.
  • Support evaluation of recruitment and outreach activities.

Person Specification

- Essential Qualifications
  • Degree qualification or equivalent relevant experience.

- Essential Experience
  • Experience in student leadership, student engagement, community engagement, youth work, recruitment, communications, marketing, event coordination, or a related field.
  • Experience organising events, campaigns, or outreach initiatives.
  • Experience engaging with young people from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience building relationships with multiple stakeholders.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills.
  • Experience using social media and digital communication platforms.

- Desirable Experience
  • Experience within higher education.

Contract: 3 months fixed term

Hours: 35 hours per week

Salary: Support Salary Band (up to €35,379 depending on experience) pro rata

Annual Leave: 24days (pro rata)

What we do with your data

Shortlisting

HR draft up the shortlisting documents and provide the initial screening to determine if a person meets the essential criteria of the competition. A shortlisting panel is generally made up of two senior grade staff members from the relevant department for which the role is being recruited.

Sharing of your data

Where you have been successfully shortlisted for a post, each interview panel member will be furnished with a copy of the relevant information of those who will be attending interview in order that they can review applications in advance of the interview process. All such information will be returned to NCI and shredded following the competition process. Some of the interview panel will be external interviewers, who are not employees of NCI but are engaged for the purpose and are strictly subject to the rules and policies of the College.
