About The Role
Catering assistant
Roles & Responsibilities
Present in full uniform to ward kitchen. Wash Hands/use gel
Liaise with Catering assistant on duty re specific patient requirements.
Proceed to do morning tea round, ensure breakfast list is to hand while performing this duty. Always refer to patient by their name, Mr., Mrs .....Perform hand hygiene between each patient
Collect water crofts, glasses and cups from tea round.
Perform hand hygiene between each patient.
Wash Hands.
Distribute fresh water and glasses to each patient. Perform hand hygiene between each patient.
Set trays for lunch, knife/fork/soup spoon/dessert spoon/salt/pepper.
Wash-up
Cleaning duties as per cleaning schedule.
Check food in fridge for expiry dates. Wash out shelves/racks in fridge. Clean door seal of fridge.
Check patient diets on lunch list with full time Catering Assistant. Refer to Dietetic folder(at back of ward reception)
Ensure soup bowls are heated, prepare kitchen for service. Have a trolley ready for soup service include enough glasses for each patient and 2*jugs of milk. Organise desserts. Wash Hands
Proceed to wards, serve soups and offer patients glass of milk. Ensure you have patient food list at hand
Perform hand hygiene between each patient
Both Catering assistant serve main course lunch, Ensure you have patient list in hand. Load plates onto trolley, deliver meals to rm 1&2 , one CA giving meal, 2nd person following with gravy/sauce. Only remove meal label from plate immediately before serving patient. Return to kitchen and load plates for room 4&5 and deliver. Rm 3,7,8 & 9 are then delivered.
Isolation rooms must always be served last.

Serve dessert, again referring to patient meal list. Serve tea and coffee Perform hand hygiene between each patient
Collect trays. Isolation rooms/patients must be collected last Perform hand hygiene between each patient
Requirements
Must have demonstrate excellent standard of English.
HACCP qualification desirable but not essential as training will be provided.
Ability to work as part of a team.
