Réalta Technologies are searching for an experienced Technical Automation Lead to support our client, a leading Medical Device manufacturer in Cork. This individual will be responsible for managing and delivering automation projects, providing technical leadership, and acting as the key interface between engineering, operations, vendors, and project stakeholders.
The successful candidate will have a strong background in industrial automation within a Medical Device or Pharmaceutical environment and possess hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley PLCs.

Job Responsibilities
  • Lead automation projects from concept through commissioning, ensuring delivery to scope, schedule, budget, and quality requirements.
  • Provide technical leadership and guidance to multidisciplinary project teams, contractors, OEMs, and system integrators.
  • Develop project plans, schedules, resource requirements, and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Coordinate design reviews, equipment integration activities, Factory Acceptance Testing (FAT), Site Acceptance Testing (SAT), commissioning, and project handover.
  • Act as the primary technical point of contact for automation-related activities across manufacturing and engineering functions.
  • Support the specification, implementation, and optimisation of Allen-Bradley PLC-based control systems.
  • Oversee the integration and deployment of Fanuc robotic systems and Cognex machine vision applications within automated manufacturing processes.
  • Collaborate closely with Operations, Quality, Validation, and Maintenance teams to ensure compliant and sustainable automation solutions.
  • Manage vendors and external partners to ensure project deliverables meet technical and business expectations.
  • Ensure all engineering activities are executed in accordance with GMP requirements, site procedures, and change control processes.
  • Support troubleshooting and continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability, performance, and throughput.
Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Automation, Electrical, Electronic, Mechatronic, or related Engineering discipline.
  • 7-8 years' experience delivering automation projects within Medical Device or Pharmaceutical manufacturing environments.
  • Proven experience leading automation projects and coordinating cross-functional teams.
  • Strong hands-on experience with:
    • Allen-Bradley PLCs and associated control architectures;
    • Fanuc industrial robotics;
    • Cognex Vision systems.
  • Knowledge of industrial networking, control system integration, and automated manufacturing equipment.
  • Familiarity with GMP-regulated environments, validation practices, and change management processes.
  • Excellent project management, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and drive projects through to successful completion.
