General Operative, Housing First Dublin

Contract: Full Time Permanent

The Purpose if this role is to provide a multi disciplined general maintenance service as part of Focus Ireland’s Dublin Housing First Intensive Case Management (ICM) Team to deliver a quality service to our tenants focusing on planned, preventative and reactive maintenance of stock within the Housing First service in the Leinster areas.

What you will do:

  • To work within the framework of the overall aims and objectives of Focus Ireland.

  • To complete multi-disciplined types of maintenance both inside and outside our properties such as basic electrical checks, plumbing, plastering, carpentry, upkeep of grounds, meter readings, lock changes, furniture moves, cleaning and painting.

  • To comply with the maintenance and delivery schedules.

  • In addition to carrying out maintenance tasks directly, to also oversee all maintenance activities carried out by other external contractors.

  • To work effectively as a member of a multi-disciplinary team alongside intensive case managers, housing officers and management

  • To exercise a good level of initiative and independence on site in order to resolve issues in the successful completion of tasks. Also to ensure that works are carried out in a manner that is safe to yourself and others

  • To undertake other such duties as might be reasonably assigned from time to time in consultation with the manager

  • To draw up, oversee and carry out the implementation of daily, weekly and monthly maintenance and cleaning schedules/ fire checks for Communal Areas.

  • Have access to their own vehicle for the purpose of carrying out scheduled repairs and maintenance as and when required.

  • To ensure all hand and power tools used by the maintenance team comply with all relevant Health and Safety regulations and are stored in a safe and tidy manner.

  • To engage in supervision sessions on a regular basis with the Manager

  • To participate in relevant training and development courses as agreed with your manager.

  • To be vigilant to any Health, Safety and Welfare risks in the workplace and bring any concerns to the attention of your line manager or Health Safety Representative.


What you will need:

  • Extensive, provable, multi trade building/maintenance experience

  • Ability to work on own initiative both alone and as a member of a team

  • Full, clean driving license

  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills

  • Flexible and innovative approach

  • Commitment to providing the highest quality service

  • Willing and able to travel within the Leinster area

  • On-site safety awareness and a knowledge of relevant current legislation along with the Associations Health and Safety Policy

  • A relevant trade qualification (Desirable)

  • Proven relevant experience of carrying out maintenance within the social housing or private residential sector (Desirable)
