WPEP Opportunity: Trainee Sales Assistant (Sales Team)
Overview
This is a training and work experience opportunity within the Sales Team at INNOVATE. The participant will gain practical, hands-on experience while developing the key skills required for a career in sales.
Working closely with experienced team members, the participant will receive structured support, mentoring, and exposure to real business activities in a busy commercial environment.
Role Purpose
The participant will train as a Sales Assistant, supporting the sales team in identifying new business opportunities, engaging with potential clients, and contributing to overall sales activities.
Key Learning Outcomes & Responsibilities
The participant will be trained in and gain experience in:
- Identifying and researching potential new business opportunities using various channels
- Supporting the team in building and maintaining client relationships
- Learning how to contribute to the development of sales strategies to achieve targets
- Maintaining customer satisfaction and supporting client retention activities
- Assisting in qualifying new prospects and supporting proposal preparation
- Updating and managing the sales pipeline and forecasting activities
- Using INNOVATE's CRM system (ConnectWise) to record:
- Activities
- Contacts
- Opportunities
- Proposals
- Making outbound calls to support marketing and sales campaigns
- Gaining exposure to client meetings (both virtual and occasional face-to-face)
- Supporting the team in growing existing client relationships
Training & Development
This placement offers a combination of formal and informal training to support the participant's development.
Formal Training
- Searching for and identifying potential new clients
- Developing basic sales communication and outreach skills
- Using CRM systems to track and manage activity
- Understanding how to engage with new clients and build relationships
- Introduction to sales processes and customer lifecycle management
Participants are eligible to complete the WPEP QQI Work Experience Module, developed by the Education & Training Boards in collaboration with the Department of Social Protection.

Candidate Profile
No prior experience is required. This opportunity is ideal for someone who:
