Role Overview
This placement provides hands on experience within the Sales Team, supporting business development activities and customer engagement in a real commercial environment.
The participant will gain structured exposure to sales processes, client interaction and internal systems, with ongoing mentoring and support.
The participant will gain experience in:
Identifying and researching new business opportunities using various channels
Supporting sales team activities including lead generation and pipeline development
Assisting in maintaining and building client relationships
Supporting outreach activities including outbound calls and campaign follow ups
Assisting with proposal preparation and qualification of new prospects
Updating and maintaining sales pipeline data and forecasting information
Using CRM systems (ConnectWise) to accurately record activities, contacts, opportunities and proposals
Supporting customer retention and satisfaction activities
Observing client meetings and sales processes to understand relationship management
Assisting with internal coordination and reporting within the sales team
Supporting general administrative and day to day sales operations
Formal / Informal Training
Formal training will be structured and aligned with the Work Placement Experience Programme (WPEP), with access to recognised learning resources.
Formal Training - 20 Hours (WPEP / QQI Aligned)
Introduction to Sales and Business Development
Understanding sales processes, lead generation and how commercial teams operate
Customer Service and Sales Communication
Developing communication skills for outreach, client engagement and relationship building
CRM and Systems Training (ConnectWise)
Training on how to track activities, manage pipeline data and maintain accurate records
Client Engagement and Relationship Management
Learning how to engage new clients, build relationships and support long term customer retention
WPEP QQI Work Experience Module (Optional)
Participants may complete the QQI Work Experience Module through local Education and Training Boards
Informal Training (On the Job Learning)
Delivered through structured, supervised experience within the Sales Team
Sales Operations Exposure
Hands on involvement in lead generation, pipeline support and sales activities
Business Systems and Tools
Practical use of CRM systems, reporting tools and internal sales platforms
Customer and Sales Process Exposure
Understanding how sales cycles work from prospecting through to engagement
Teamwork and Communication
Working within a team environment to support shared objectives
Confidence and Professional Development
Building communication skills, initiative and workplace confidence
Shadowing and Mentoring

Candidate Profile
No prior experience required. This opportunity is suited to someone who:
