Job Description - Lecturer in Marketing - Specialist in Digital Marketing
0.5 FTE Post (Part-Time)
Position: A part-time 24 Fixed Term Lecturer post in Marketing (Specialist in Digital Marketing)
Reporting to: Dean and Vice Dean of Business, School of Business and Social Sciences
Purpose of Position:
The primary responsibilities of this position include delivering lectures in Marketing, with a particular emphasis on Digital Marketing, across a range of College programmes. The role also involves developing curriculum and programme materials and engaging in scholarly research aligned with undergraduate and postgraduate provision.
The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in digital marketing practices, including areas such as social media marketing, content strategy, data analytics, AI and digital advertising. They will possess both the necessary academic qualifications and relevant industry experience to effectively bridge theory and practice in a rapidly evolving digital environment. #

Key Responsibilities:
Teaching
* Deliver lectures in Marketing, with a particular focus on Digital Marketing, across undergraduate and postgraduate programmes.
* Support students in their learning through guidance, mentoring, and constructive feedback.
* Supervise undergraduate and postgraduate research projects, particularly in digital marketing and related fields.
* Engage fully in assessment processes, including setting and grading examinations and assignments, attending assessment boards, and liaising with external examiners.
* Provide timely and high-quality feedback on coursework, project work, and dissertations.
* Develop and update course materials, incorporating current digital marketing tools, platforms, and technologies.
* Participate in programme committees and adhere to Quality Assurance processes.
* Assist in the preparation of validation and review documentation and contribute to programme enhancement.
Programme Development
* Assist in the development of existing programmes and new programmes. This may involve drafting submission documents, liaison with the validating bodies, promoting, implementing and reviewing programmes.
* Support the integration of industry-relevant digital tools and platforms into the curriculum.
* Engage in the promotion and continuous improvement of programmes.
* Prepare teaching materials, tutorials, and associated academic content.
Research
* Undertake primary research activity relevant to the area of expertise
* Engage with emerging trends in marketing.
External Bodies
* Maintain links with industry, professional, and academic bodies relevant to marketing and digital marketing.
* Contribute to programme accreditation and professional body engagement where appropriate.
* Enhance student employability through industry engagement and applied learning opportunities.
General
* Assist in the development of the School of Business and Social Sciences
* Act as programme director for undergraduate and/or postgraduate programmes in consultation with the Dean of the School of Business and Social Sciences
* Contribute to academic and disciplinary committees and meetings as requested.
* Represent the college at functions and promotional events such as exhibitions, school visits, open days, recruitment evenings and other external events.
* Liaise with students as appropriate.
Qualifications & Experience Required:
Essential Qualifications
* Masters degree in Marketing or Business
* Level 8 Honours Degree in Marketing
Essential Experience and Skills Required
* Five years recent experience working in a Digital Marketing environment (e.g. social media, SEO, analytics, digital campaigns, content marketing).
* Relevant lecturing or teaching experience in higher education is desirable.
* Strong knowledge of current digital tools, platforms, and industry trends.
* Excellent communication, organisational, and time-management skills.
* Strong digital and IT competencies.
* Ability to work independently and take initiative as a self-starter.
Desirable Criteria
It is desirable that the candidate will have a Level 10 qualification in Marketing, Digital Marketing, or a related Business discipline.
Contract: 2 Year Fixed Term Contract
Salary: Academic I Salary Band (€37,271- €57,027) pro rata
Hours: Part -Time 17.5 hours per week
Annual Leave: 34 days pro rata
