Research Assistant Technical -Department of Geography

The Department of Geography, University College Cork wishes to appoint a Research Assistant Technical to undertake fieldwork, data processing, project reporting and administration as deemed appropriate by the PI. The Successful candidate will support the MARA_B_ORE project which aims to model anthropogenic impacts, responses, and benefits of the marine Ecosystem from Offshore Renewable Energy.

The successful candidate will be based at University College Cork within the Department of Geography. The successful candidate will be proficient at fieldwork including the use of AUVs and various other field instrumentation relevant to coastal and marine research (ADCP). Ideally, they will have a strong interest in coastal and marine environments have an understanding of marine and environmental monitoring techniques. They will be excellent communicators and be able to lead project administration.

Experience and knowledge in any of the following areas would be highly valued: AUV mapping, marine measurements (ADCP), sediment analysis (particle size) and interpretation; Irish offshore wind and GIS. The appointee will work directly with PI's at University College Cork and will be expected to engage with a range of external stakeholder organisations and conduct large amounts of marine fieldwork and data processing. The candidate is expected to start no later than August 1st, 2026.

Duration: 12 months, whole-time post

Appointment may be made on the Research Assistant (IUA Salary Scale): €34,129 - €44,311

Salary placement on appointment will be in accordance with public sector pay policy.
