- Play a leading role as a Mechanical / Building Services Engineer in the development and maintenance of the Hospitals Technical & building Infrastructure through the implementation of appropriate actions to achieve corporate and service delivery objectives.
- To act as the Project lead in the delivery of strategic projects as directed by the Head of Operations and the Director of Estates and Facilities.
- Responsibility and accountability for efficient, effective and the optimal safe delivery of engineering projects across the site.
- Leading the development and execution of service plans for the Directorate.
- Monitor Compliance to applicable codes, practices, QA/QC policies, performance and specifications.
- Monitor and control actual performance of the Mechanical / Building Services Function against business and budgetary performance indicators.
- Ensure compliance with risk management policy and provisions.
- Ensure a consistency of approach across the Estates & Facilities Engineering function.
- Communicate effectively with Project management and other project participants in order to provide assistance and technical support.
- Review project & engineering deliverables and initiate appropriate corrective actions whilst identifying service development priorities.
- Ensure at all times continuity and availability of Mechanical / Building Services across the estate where reasonably practicable so as to minimise service interruption or patient impact.
- To provide the lead in acquiring and or providing technical guidance, specifications, advice, oversight or direction on all projects as directed by the Head of Operations/Projects and the Director of Estates and Facilities.
- To provide the technical assistance in reviewing the delivery of projects as directed by the Head of Operations/Projects and Director of Estates and Facilities.
- To manage third party communication in respect to specific projects or tasks as directed by the Head of Operations and the Director of Estates and Facilities.
- Act as Project Manager for specific projects as directed by the Head of Operations and the Director of Estates & Facilities.
- To ensure compliance with all health & safety legislation and compliance with all statutory and regulatory obligations and requirements of our insurers.
- To contribute and input into the strategic and operational change programmes and compliance.
- Develop safe work systems for the Maintenance Operations, Projects and others as directed by the Head of Operations and the Director of Estates and Facilities.
- Carry out the Design of Mechanical / Building services for installations/projects in compliance with the applicable Irish standards & Hospital Technical Memoranda.
- Develop design documentation and control processes for system schematics and X-ref documentation utilising computer aided design packages.
- To provide statutory reports in respect to energy consumption and conservation as required and or as directed by the Hospital.
- To provide support to the Head of Operations and the Director of Estates in developing and planning the sites infrastructure.
- Actively partake in minor capital works through the Project Team, Project liaison Groups/Committees.
- To take the lead role in relation to investigating technical failures that caused either service loss or negative impact to patients.
