Salary: NCAD Senior Attendant €692.98 - €789.94 per weekplus shift allowance

*Candidates should note that as per Department of Finance guidelines, entry will be at the first point of the salary scale and the rate of remuneration may be adjusted from time to time in line with government pay policy. Candidates should note that different pay and conditions may apply if, immediately prior to appointment, the appointee is a serving civil or public servant.

Hours of Attendance: Working hours will be 39 hours per week (net of rest breaks). Shift work will be required (8.00am to 4.00pm or 2.00pm to 10.00pm - Monday to Friday)

Location: This position is based at NCAD, 100 Thomas Street, Dublin

Description

The National College of Art & Design wishes to recruit a capable and enthusiastic Senior Attendant. The Attendants' team provides the first point of contact to the variety of visitors to the College campus. Candidates should have experience in engaging with the public, taking enquiries and working as part of a team. Staff must be flexible and willing to work a variety of shifts, with occasional weekend work and overtime.

We may form a panel from this process.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

  • To ensure that all staff entrances are manned, ensuring security, directing and assisting visitors, receiving/checking deliveries and outgoing materials and goods
  • Ensure that any accidents/incidents are reported correctly.
  • Supervise any work carried out by the attendants, ensuring correct health and safety standards are adhered to.
  • Liaise with attendants at shift changeovers ensuring that information flows between each other.
  • Report any faults through the maintenance ticketing system.
  • Raise purchase orders on the finance system as required.
  • Ensure that all keys have been returned.
  • Keep Head Attendant informed of any issues that arise.
  • To arrange classrooms, lecture theatres and ancillary spaces as required
  • To be the first point of contact for visitors to the campus
  • To answer phone enquiries when the switchboard cannot, providing information on general enquiries and/or forwarding to relevant staff/departments asappropriate
  • To handle all incoming and outgoing post, both internal and external
  • To always observe fire and health & safety regulations including checking defibrillator daily
  • Staff rosters and payroll timesheets in the absence of the Head Attendant
  • To carry out any other appropriate duties as may be requested by the Head Attendant


Selection Criteria

Selection criteria outline the qualifications, skills, knowledge and/or experience that the successful candidate would need to demonstrate for successful discharge of the responsibilities of the post. Applications will be assessed on the basis of how well candidates satisfy these criteria.

Mandatory

  • Strong communication and team working skills
  • Ability to prioritise and organise workload
  • Experience in managing and responding to a wide range of requests in a busy environment
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements.
  • Ability to work on one's own initiative as well as part of a team
  • Flexibility in availability
  • Available to work on a variety of shift patterns


Desirable

  • Use of IT systems (Finance system, Microsoft packages, ticket logging systems)
  • Previous experience of working in a public facing service role
  • Experience of working with a student population would be an advantage
