The Foynes terminal, with its capacity of 82,000 m and 18 storage tanks, is a key strategic asset capable of handling a diverse range of fuels and biofuels. This facility ensures security of supply and blend flexibility, meeting the rising demand for lower-carbon fuels. Our team will be responsible for the operations, maintenance, and monitoring of the site, and delivering a range of optimisation services.

The Opportunity

We are now recruiting a Graduate Safety Officer.

This is a three year fixed term development role ideal for a recent graduate to gain some industry experience and training.

The primary function of the role is to ensure that excellent standards of health, safety and environmental protection are set and met in accordance with the requirements of the company health and safety policy, the company environmental policy, and the terminal's Major Accident Prevention Policy (MAPP) and safety management system.

You'll be supported with personalised on the job training, coaching, mentoring and twice-yearly development and performance reviews to help maintain & develop your contributions and competence.

Monitor site activities to ensure adherence to safety policies, procedures, and legal requirements.
Support the Terminal Manager in implementing the terminal's safety management system (SMS), including COMAH compliance tasks.
Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and safety walks; report and follow up on findings.
Assist in risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work processes.
Lead and participate in incident investigations, ensuring root causes are identified and corrective actions implemented.
Deliver safety inductions, toolbox talks, and training sessions to staff and contractors.
Monitor the use of PPE and ensure safety signage and barriers are maintained.

Level 8 Degree, or equivalent
Understanding of COMAH, DSEAR, and general Irish safety legislation.
Willingness to learn and develop competencies required for the role
