The role:
The Communication and Corporate Affairs area leads brand, marketing, communications and stakeholder engagement across Uisce Éireann, ensuring a consistent and coordinated approach to how we communicate with our customers, stakeholders and employees.
The Internal Communications function works with business leaders and stakeholders to deliver clear, timely and aligned communications that support company strategy and priorities, major programmes and day-to-day operations. The team also plays a key role in company-wide communications, leadership communications and crisis response, while building internal communications capability across the organisation.
Reporting to the Head of Internal Communications, the Internal Communications Manager will support strategic clarity and employee engagement by helping employees understand organisational priorities and how their work connects to them.
The role will plan and deliver effective internal communications aligned to company priorities, with a focus on leadership communications, strategic priorities and employee advocacy.
Frontline communications will be a key priority, alongside the development of engaging content and effective communication channels that drive understanding and engagement. The role will also draw on experience across media, marketing and digital environments, together with an understanding of customer and stakeholder expectations, to shape effective internal communications and help employees understand the bigger picture.

- Responsible for the internal communications strategy delivery, as directed by the Head of Internal Communications.
- Responsible for driving the implementation of governance, processes and resources to support effective strategy delivery.
- Responsible for developing and managing internal communications plans aligned to organisational priorities.
- Coordinate internal communications activity across Uisce Éireann.
- Partner with the Head of Internal Communications and business managers to develop and deliver key messages.
- Lead and deliver internal communications to build employee engagement and support understanding of organisational priorities, performance and culture.
- Drive commitment to business goals and performance, embedding the Uisce Éireann vision, purpose and values through effective communications.
- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across Uisce Éireann and its supply chain.
- Lead the development and use of effective internal communications approaches and channels to reach employees across the organisation.
- Use digital channels to support and measure employee engagement.
- Responsible for managing feedback from employees on internal communications.
- Coordinate communications activity within Corporate Affairs to ensure consistent delivery of prioritised communications.
- Deliver integrated, organisation-wide communications aligned to evolving business needs and agreed work plans.
- Champion collaboration, and support demand and capacity management and governance across the Corporate Affairs portfolio.
- Build and maintain internal and external relationships to provide advice and guidance on communications.
- Support communications during crises and significant incidents as required.
- If managing a direct report, provide leadership, coaching and support to enable performance and development.
- Work cross-functionally on projects and tasks as required.
- Some travel within Ireland and out-of-hours attendance at events may be required.
- Other duties as required.
General Duties and Responsibilities
- Collaborate with key internal stakeholders across Uisce Éireann.
- Support the delivery of organisational transformation programmes, contributing to directorate and organisation-wide objectives.
- Responsible for promoting and delivering health and safety commitments across Uisce Éireann and its supply chain.
- Conducts duties and responsibilities in accordance with Uisce Éireann's Information Security policies, standards, processes and controls to protect the confidentiality, integrity and availability of UÉ business information and delivery of critical services, in accordance with the NIS Directive and any other relevant cybersecurity regulation.
- Other duties as required.
Knowledge, skills and experience:
- Deep experience managing and evolving an employee intranet, ideally including hands-on experience with Workvivo or similar platforms.
- Strong experience delivering effective frontline and field-force communications, alongside developing employee advocacy approaches.
- Excellent writing and editing skills, with practical experience using AI tools to improve the quality, speed and impact of internal communications.
- Relevant third level qualification and/or accreditation is desirable or equivalent experience.
- A minimum of 7 years' experience in the water, utilities or similar industries is desirable.
- Highly motivated individual, working to the highest professional standards and with proven ability to deliver results at a senior level.
- Excellent analytical skills and ability to identify and analyse problems, propose improvements and implement solutions.
- Experience of developing and maintaining effective strategic partnerships with key stakeholders.
- Proven track record of dealing with complex issues proactively and in a timely manner, with the ability to communicate complex information clearly.
- Experience of supporting policies, systems and controls and driving implementation.
- Proven track record in leadership, change and transformation, ideally in a similar utility, regulated or multi-stakeholder environment.
- Able to work to deadlines and adapt to changing conditions and ambiguity, generating effective and pragmatic solutions.
