School of Design

The School of Design at NCAD aims to create a design culture and community that thrives on new ideas, new ways of doing things and new areas of exploration that address the challenges of a rapidly evolving world.

We encourage our students to experiment and take risks in order to carve new aesthetic paths and make technical innovations within, and beyond, their design discipline. We have extensive links with Industry, and students regularly work on live projects within a commercial, social or cultural context. The College seeks to ensure that our design students develop the necessary creative, technical, thinking and interpersonal skills to become highly employable graduates, entrepreneurs and thought leaders.

We recognise that Design is a cultural, social, political, economic, and relational activity that responds creatively to its context, location in time, connections, and people. As such we seek to nurture, empower and enable our design students to become agents of change.

To support these aims, NCAD is looking to appoint a number of Programme Leaders across the School of Design to drive and support the Colleges ongoing strategic implementation plans.

In order to support the administrative requirements of these roles, successful applicants will undertake an additional 60 hours of academic administration per year (quantum determined by number of students and related QA requirements). For full time staff this would result in their teaching hours being reduced accordingly, and with their teaching backfilled by sessional hours. For fractional members of staff this would result in additional hours up to a maximum of a full-time role.
