We are seeking a Manufacturing, Quality & Test Technician to join our Quality & Test team. In this role, you will ensure our systems are tested to rigorous standards, guaranteeing that we consistently ship the highest quality products to our customers while meeting production throughput requirements. You will think creatively to solve complex testing challenges and continuously improve our automation, throughput, user interfaces, and data analytics.
Note on Location: While this role reports to the Dublin team, a considerable amount of time (up to 60%) will be spent on-site at our subcontractor premises in the West of Ireland. Candidates must be based in or around the Galway area to be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- NPI & Production Support: Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure the seamless integration of hardware products from design through to medium-volume production.
- System Maintenance: Conduct routine service checks and perform preventative maintenance to keep electronics test systems functioning optimally.
- Cross-Functional Communication: Work closely with operators, engineers, and inspectors to diagnose problems and provide clear progress updates.
- Failure Analysis: Partner with the Design, Quality, and Manufacturing Engineering teams to support customer returns and perform detailed root-cause failure analysis.
- Data & Analytics: Analyze test data, document results, and generate detailed reports to identify defects and highlight areas for improvement.
- Design Feedback: Collaborate with design engineers to provide actionable feedback and recommendations for product enhancements based on test outcomes.
- Test Optimization: Optimize testing strategies to improve efficiency and reduce cycle times without compromising product quality.
- Continuous Improvement: Support initiatives to enhance production testing processes, fixture designs, and methodologies.
Key Skills
- Schematic Literacy: Ability to read and interpret electronic schematics, wiring diagrams, and blueprints.
- Electronics Expertise: Strong practical understanding of electronic principles, components, and analog/digital systems.
- Analytical Problem Solving: Excellent diagnostic skills with a proven capability to interpret complex technical manuals.
- Tools & Equipment: Hands-on proficiency with oscilloscopes, multimeters, soldering irons, and hardware diagnostic software.
- Communication: Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Attention to Detail: Deep commitment to quality, accuracy, and precision in hardware verification.
- Advanced Quality Control: Familiarity with SPC (Statistical Process Control) analysis and GR&R (Gauge Repeatability and Reproducibility) studies is a strong advantage.
Required Qualifications & Experience
- Education: Minimum Level 6 Qualification (NFQ Ireland) in Computer Science, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience: 3+ years of experience working in a production or regulated manufacturing environment.
- Protocols: Familiarity with common communication protocols such as I2C, SPI, USB, and UART.
- Production Testing: Experience with the commissioning and troubleshooting of Production Test Fixtures.
- Systems Knowledge: Familiarity with Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) systems.
- Preferred Experience: A strong background in electronic manufacturing/production is highly desirable.
