Sample Preparation Laboratory Assistant

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Sample Preparation Laboratory Assistant to join our Food Chemistry team. This role is essential to the smooth operation of the laboratory, focusing on the accurate preparation of food samples for analysis. The successful candidate will bring hands-on experience from a busy kitchen or food-handling environment, strong organisational skills, and a genuine interest in science, food safety, and public health.

This position does not involve running analytical tests but plays a vital part in ensuring that laboratory analyses are based on well-prepared, high-quality samples.

• Prepare food samples for laboratory testing by weighing, measuring, grinding, and mixing, ensuring consistency and accuracy for analysis.
• Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain quality and traceability.
• Label and record all samples accurately to support efficient laboratory workflows.
• Adhere to the MxNS Quality Management System, ensuring compliance with ISO 17025, INAB, DAFM, RSA, and company requirements.
• Maintain accurate documentation for all sample preparation activities.
• Support continuous improvement and operational excellence initiatives.
• Carry out tasks allocated by the Laboratory or Operations Manager to the required standard and within set deadlines.
• Report any issues with equipment, resources, or materials promptly.
• Follow all health, safety, and quality procedures at all times.
• Keep designated work areas tidy, clean, and organised to maintain a professional and safe laboratory environment.
