Réalta Technologies is seeking an experienced Lead Automation Engineer with 8+ years of experience to join our team in Dublin to support our pharmaceutical client.

The successful candidate will play a key role in the development, implementation, and optimisation of automation solutions for the client.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Allen-Bradley/Rockwell platforms (Studio 5000), a solid understanding of GMP-regulated environments and the ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary engineering teams to deliver high-quality automation systems.

Job Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and implement automation solutions using Allen-Bradley / Rockwell PLCs and Studio 5000.
  • Develop and implement automation and control strategies to support manufacturing and process operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams including process, validation, and manufacturing engineers to understand system requirements and deliver automation solutions.
  • Develop and execute automation testing activities, including FAT, SAT, and commissioning support.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve automation and control system issues to improve system reliability and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure automation systems are implemented in accordance with GMP requirements, GAMP5 guidelines, and 21 CFR Part 11 where applicable.
  • Produce and maintain automation documentation, including functional specifications, test documentation, and change control records.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to junior engineers when required.

Job Requirements

  • 8+ years' experience as an Automation Engineer within pharmaceutical, biotechnology, or regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Strong experience with Allen-Bradley / Rockwell automation platforms, including Studio 5000 programming, configuration, and troubleshooting.
  • Experience delivering automation solutions across system design, development, testing, and commissioning phases.
  • Solid understanding of GMP environments and regulatory requirements including GAMP5 and 21 CFR Part 11.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills in complex automation environments.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Experience supporting packaging or filling line automation would be advantageous.
