ROLE OVERVIEW
The Coffee Packing & Production Assistant is an integral part of the Ponaire roastery team, supporting the daily production, packing, and fulfilment operations at our Newport site.
This hands-on role focuses on ensuring coffee products are prepared, packed, labelled, and dispatched accurately and efficiently. The successful candidate will prepare customer orders, process online web sales, maintain quality standards, and support the wider production team.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Packing & Order Fulfilment
- Prepare and pack customer orders accurately and efficiently.
- Pick and pack online web sales orders, ensuring all items are correct before dispatch.
- Pack coffee products including bags, boxes, and subscription orders.
- Check orders against picking lists and customer requirements.
- Ensure products are correctly labelled, sealed, and presented to Ponaire standards.
- Prepare wholesale and café orders for collection or delivery.
PRODUCTION ROOM OPERATIONS
- Support the daily running of the production room including coffee packing, weighing, and preparation.
- Operate packing equipment safely and efficiently.
- Assist with grinding, portioning, and preparing coffee products as required.
- Maintain accurate production and packing records.
- Ensure coffee products are handled carefully to maintain freshness and quality.
QUALITY CONTROL & STANDARDS
- Carry out checks to ensure products meet Ponaire standards before dispatch.
- Check packaging, labels, dates, and product presentation.
- Report quality issues or discrepancies.
- Follow correct stock rotation practices.
STOCK MANAGEMENT & ORGANISATION
- Assist with monitoring packaging and production supplies.
- Support stock rotation and organisation of finished products.
- Assist with stock counts and inventory checks.
HYGIENE, SAFETY & EQUIPMENT
- Maintain a clean, tidy, and safe production environment.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, and health & safety procedures.
- Clean and maintain production and packing equipment.
- Report equipment issues promptly.
TEAM SUPPORT & CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT
- Work collaboratively with the roastery and operations teams.
- Support improvements to packing processes and workflow efficiency.
- Adapt to changing daily priorities.

DESIRABLE
- Previous experience in packing, fulfilment, production, warehouse, or food manufacturing environments.
- Experience processing online orders or dispatch operations.
- Coffee experience is beneficial but not essential.
