About the Company
Our client is a well-established, family-run business with over 40 years in the outdoor power equipment industry, based in Ratoath, Co. Meath. As official agents for leading brands including Husqvarna, Stihl, Echo and Cub Cadet, they have built a strong reputation for quality servicing and customer care.
This isn't a generic workshop role. You'll be working hands-on with premium garden machinery every day, in a business that genuinely values technical expertise and takes pride in every repair that leaves the workshop.
The Role
We're looking for a skilled and enthusiastic Small Engine Technician to join a busy, specialist workshop team in Ratoath.
Day to day, you'll diagnose, service, and repair a wide range of outdoor power equipment - from petrol lawnmowers and ride-ons to chainsaws, brushcutters, hedge trimmers and more. If you know your way around a 2-stroke engine and enjoy solving mechanical problems, this role is a great fit.
Full-time and permanent, with a consistent Monday-Friday schedule and no weekend work.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, repair, and maintain small engines across petrol and battery-powered equipment
- Diagnose mechanical and electrical faults on lawnmowers, ride-on mowers, chainsaws, brushcutters, hedge trimmers, and related garden machinery
- Carry out 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine overhauls and tune-ups
- Use manufacturer systems for diagnostics, parts ordering, and service records
- Ensure all equipment is tested and returned to a high standard
- Keep the workshop clean, organised, and safe at all times
What We're Looking For
- Hands-on experience with small engines or outdoor power equipment (essential)
- Solid understanding of 2-stroke and 4-stroke engine mechanics
- Ability to diagnose faults independently and work efficiently
- Familiarity with brands such as Husqvarna, Stihl, Honda or Echo (an advantage)
- Good attention to detail and a pride in quality workmanship
- Reliable, punctual, and a team player
