Rack Technician

Job Description
We are seeking for a Rack Technician to join the Data Centre team for one of our major clients on a contract basis. This role is a unique opportunity to work in some of the most cutting edge data centers in the world. The ideal candidate must have hands-on hardware & troubleshooting experience.

The Technician will work on site of one of our client's data centers supporting the installation of server racks. Working in a team, and on various different projects and tasks.

Description:

• Scanning and installing server racks as they come in.
• Connect the racks to the network.
• Troubleshoot hardware.
• Housekeeping.
• Adhere to security and safety best practices in the data centre.
• Installation and testing of copper and Fibre Optic cabling.
• Basic build and troubleshooting of network devices.
• Regularly lift 15kg or move heavy objects into position.
• Regularly work at heights and from ladders.
• Managing inventory of related materials.
• Adhering to defined escalation processes and standard operating procedures.
• Work in noisy areas with hotter and colder temperatures than standard office environmental conditions.

Requirements

• Basic knowledge of network cabling.
• Knowledge of copper and fibre optic testing methodologies.
• Cable installation, troubleshooting and repair.
• Passionate for IT.
• Basic Knowledge of computer hardware, IT, Computers, network components.
