The Associate Director is the operational lead for Lilly's Anti-Corruption Due Diligence (ACDD) programme. You will lead end-to-end ACDD operations, drive the execution of programme transformation initiatives, and serve as a key subject matter resource on ABAC due diligence within the Ethics & Compliance function.

The role requires depth and breadth of expertise in anti-corruption due diligence, with decisions that impact the function's ability to demonstrate active management under DOJ Evaluation of Corporate Compliance Programs (ECCP) standards, the FCPA, the UK Bribery Act, the EU Anti-Corruption Directive, the OECD Anti-Bribery Convention, and applicable local laws globally.

Key Accountabilities:
1.ACDD Programme Leadership
- Lead and drive the end-to-end due diligence process in accordance with corporate policy, the FCPA, UK Bribery Act, EU Anti-Corruption Directive, OECD Anti-Bribery Convention, and applicable local laws and regulations globally.
- Lead and manage due diligence reviews on proposed and existing third parties, ensuring risk-proportionate assessment, timely completion, and quality documentation that meets regulatory defensibility standards.
- Manage day-to-day ACDD operations including procedural documentation, case assignment, workflow management, SLA adherence, and quality assurance across the ACCoE team.
- Anticipate ACDD operational risks and resolve complex due diligence escalations involving high-risk third parties.
- Act as the lead subject matter expert across all geographies, advising E&C personnel and business partners on ACDD requirements, risk implications, and compliance expectations.
- Troubleshoot technology platform issues that impact programme delivery and oversee operational relationships with ACDD vendors including performance monitoring, issue escalation, and service-level accountability.
2. ABAC assessments: Lead global ABAC assessments of third parties annually, develop data-driven candidate selection process, formulate findings into executive reports, create metrics and provide actionable insights to drive ABAC programme enhancements.
3. Programme Transformation, Innovation, and Capabilities
- Lead ACDD transformation execution as directed by the Senior Director, drive adoption of new platforms and processes, anticipate implementation challenges, and deliver effective solutions.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency, reduce review times, strengthen our risk-based approach, while enhancing the Vendor and Business experience.
- Innovate and deploy responsible AI and technology solutions to drive efficiency and effectiveness across the programme
- Translate future-state programme design into documented operational requirements and documented standards and guidance.
- Drive adoption of new technology platforms and workflows within the ACCoE team, ensuring training, documentation, and change management are executed effectively.
- Influence cross-functional partners on ACDD requirements and process design, advocating for programme needs with clarity and evidence.
- Collaborate proactively with cross-functional teams and assurance functions to drive alignment, identify requirements and risks, and deliver on shared objectives.
- Forecast resource needs and manage allocated budgets for ACDD operations and transformation projects.
- Maintain current knowledge of applicable anti-corruption laws, regulations, enforcement trends, and industry best practice, translating these into ongoing operational improvements and procedure updates.
- Develop and deliver anti-bribery/anti-corruption training to Vendors and business partners across geographies as needed, tailoring content to audience and risk context.
4. Data, Metrics & Reporting
- Develop and maintain programme metrics and reporting that demonstrate ACDD programme effectiveness, risk coverage, and operational performance.
- Leverage programme data analytics from a variety of sources to identify trends, inform risk-based decision-making, support targeted training, and strengthen oversight of third-party compliance activities.
- Analyse complex due diligence findings to assess risk, make judgement-based escalation decisions, and use data to identify trends and inform programme improvements.
- Prepare operational data and analysis for executive-level briefings, contributing to the Senior Director's leadership reporting.
5. Team Coordination & Development
- Provide day-to-day operational support for the ACCoE team, setting clear expectations for quality, timeliness, and professional standards.
- Manage workload distribution, deadline management, and quality standards across the team, ensuring consistent output even during peak periods.
- Communicate effectively upward to ensure senior leadership has timely, accurate programme visibility.
- Support the development of ACCoE team members through coaching, knowledge transfer, and process documentation that builds team capability.
- Foster a positive, open, and collaborative team culture where innovation is encouraged, development and feedback welcomed, and continuous improvement is the norm.
Qualifications
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree.
- Professional qualification in law, accountancy, finance, compliance, or related discipline preferred.
- 7+ years of experience within the pharmaceutical or heavily regulated industry in compliance, risk management, or a related assurance function.
- 3 + years of experience in anti-corruption due diligence, financial due diligence, third-party risk management, financial crime, or a related investigative or analytical discipline.
- Solid understanding of anti-corruption laws including the FCPA, UK Bribery Act, EU Anti-Corruption Directive, OECD Anti-Bribery Convention, and other applicable global legislation.
- Demonstrated experience leading and implementing compliance operations with cross-functional dependencies.
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and deliverables simultaneously with competing priorities.
- No documented compliance violations within the last 12 months.
