Job Description Step into a hands-on role at the front line of technology, supporting complex embedded systems in real-world environments. This is an opportunity to work directly with customers, diagnose issues on-site, and ensure critical equipment stays reliable, safe, and fully operational. About the Role: As an Embedded Field Service Representative, you will provide on-site technical support for embedded hardware and firmware systems, ensuring rapid diagnosis and resolution of issues. You will act as the key technical contact in the field, bridging customer needs with engineering teams and feeding back real-world insights to improve products and services. Your work will directly impact system uptime, customer satisfaction, and the safe operation of deployed equipment. Key Responsibilities: Perform on-site troubleshooting of embedded systems, identifying and resolving hardware, firmware, and communication issues. Use diagnostic tools and test equipment to isolate faults at board, module, and system level. Analyse and verify network and communication protocols (e.g., CAN, UART, SPI) in the field to ensure correct operation and integration. Implement firmware updates, configuration changes, and system calibrations on deployed equipment. Document all service activities, including fault findings, corrective actions, parts usage, and system status, in a clear and structured manner. Provide technical feedback to engineering and product teams based on field performance, recurring issues, and customer observations. Train and guide customer personnel on basic operation, maintenance, and safe handling of embedded systems and related hardware. Adhere to safety, ESD, and site-specific protocols during all service visits, ensuring compliance with company and customer standards. Key Requirements: Proven experience in embedded systems troubleshooting in a field or customer-facing environment. Strong practical knowledge of network and communication protocols such as CAN, UART, and SPI. Hands-on experience with hardware and firmware diagnostics using tools like oscilloscopes, logic analysers, and protocol analysers. Ability to read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and technical documentation. Competence in documenting service activities, reports, and technical findings with high accuracy and clarity. Solid understanding and application of safety procedures and ESD compliance practices in field service work. Willingness to travel to customer sites and work independently with minimal supervision. Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to remain composed and systematic under time pressure. Desirable Skills: Experience supporting embedded systems in industrial, automotive, or similar environments. Familiarity with basic scripting or programming for test automation or configuration (e.g., Python, C). Exposure to remote diagnostics tools and secure connectivity solutions for field equipment. Background in root cause analysis and corrective action reporting for recurring field issues. Experience working with cross-functional engineering and support teams in a technical service context. Qualifications: Degree or diploma in Electronics, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related technical field. Relevant certifications in electronics, embedded systems, or field service engineering are advantageous. Training or certification in ESD control and safety practices is preferred. Valid driver's licence suitable for field travel requirements. If you are a hands-on embedded specialist who enjoys solving problems on-site and keeping critical systems running, this contract role offers a challenging and rewarding next step in your field service career.
