We're looking for an Vice President, Project Management Office (PMO) Lead


Based in Bermuda and reporting to the SVP, Head of Information Systems, you will be responsible for leading the delivery of projects and programs supporting Hamilton Re's business strategy and transformation initiatives as well as supporting disciplined portfolio administration, financial tracking, and operational governance across the Hamilton Re change portfolio. The role will work closely with the Group Head of PMO to ensure alignment with Group portfolio governance, standards, and reporting expectations.


This role establishes and maintains robust project and portfolio management practices, oversees cross-functional delivery teams, and ensures initiatives are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget. The role is the central point of accountability for portfolio governance, delivery assurance, resource planning, vendor oversight, and executive reporting for Hamilton Re initiatives.


Hamilton Re is our Bermuda-based company which provides both reinsurance and across property, casualty and specialty lines globally.


What you will do


Project & Portfolio Management


  • Establish and operate a Project Management Office (PMO) for Hamilton Re.
  • Define and implement best practices for planning, executing, and delivering projects across the full lifecycle, using industry-standard methodologies (PMI, Agile, Scrum, Hybrid), in alignment with Groupdefined PMO standards and tooling.
  • Own Hamilton Re portfolio prioritization, dependencies, and delivery sequencing aligned to business strategy, capacity, and Group governance.
  • Oversee portfolio-level reporting, financial tracking, and forecasting, ensuring disciplined management of project spend and alignment to approved budgets.
  • Manage benefits realization and investment cases, including solution tradeoff analysis (build vs. buy), in coordination with Grouplevel investment and financial governance processes.
  • Oversee vendor delivery and day-to-day commercial management for Hamilton Re initiatives, including coordination of procurement and onboarding activities, in accordance with Group vendor governance, contract standards, and approval policies.
  • Implement standardized capacity planning and resource forecasting, aligned to Group reporting cadences and definitions.
  • Adopt and apply Groupdefined PMO policies, methodologies, templates, and reporting standards, and contribute Hamilton Re inputs to enterprise portfolio views.

PMO Operations, Governance & Enablement


  • Support Hamilton Re IT budget management activities, including tracking of project spend, forecasts, and variance analysis, in alignment with Group financial governance and reporting requirements.
  • Coordinate procurement and vendor onboarding activities for Hamilton Re initiatives, working closely with Procurement, Legal, and Finance to ensure adherence to Group policies and approval processes.
  • Establish and manage PMO operational cadences, including reporting cycles, governance calendars, and portfolio administration activities.
  • Maintain portfolio artefacts (e.g., plans, RAID logs, status reports) to ensure consistency, accuracy, and audit readiness.
  • Support development of PMO and delivery capabilities through training, coaching, and adoption of Group tools, standards, and methodologies.


Stakeholder & Governance Management


  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior and executive stakeholders, providing insight on delivery health, risks, and trade-offs.
  • Prepare and present Hamilton Re Steering Committee materials, including status, risks, dependencies, and decisions required.
  • Ensure effective delivery governance, escalation, and resolution of issues and risks, consistent with Group governance and escalation expectations.
  • Partner closely with business leadership to maintain alignment and transparency.
  • Provide portfolio status, risks, and delivery commentary to Group PMO governance forums as required.
  • Partner with Finance, Procurement, and other Group functions to ensure adherence to financial controls, procurement policies, and governance requirements.


Delivery Leadership


  • Lead and develop program and project managers and other delivery-aligned resources.
  • Ensure consistent delivery discipline across initiatives while allowing appropriate flexibility based on initiative. complexity and risk, within Groupapproved delivery frameworks.
  • Foster a results-oriented, accountable, and collaborative delivery culture.


What you require for the role


  • Experience of leading complex programs and portfolios, preferably within insurance or reinsurance
  • Relevant degree and/or professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PgMP, Agile certifications) required
  • Proven experience establishing and operating a PMO or enterprise delivery function
  • Strong understanding of portfolio governance, financial management, and vendor oversight
  • Demonstrated ability to operate effectively at executive level with strong judgment and communication skills
