Staff Nurse (St Marys Ward) 2 Positions:
Permanent 37.5 Hours per Week
Specific Purpose 37.5 Hours
An exciting opportunity has arisen for two Positions of Staff Nurse (St Marys Ward) to join the Bon Secours Health System Hospital Galway. Ireland's Largest Private Healthcare provider.
Job Purpose:
Staff nurses (St Marys Ward) are responsible for providing a high standard of nursing care to patients, the application of the nursing process and the scientific knowledge, judgement and technical skills of professional nursing in delivering care to patient population of paediatric through to the elderly.
Ideal Candidate:
Ability to work as part of a team providing a quality service
Personally, and professionally accountable for patient care
RGN qualification and NMBI registration
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Flexible approach to work patterns as the post holder will be required to rotate between days and nights
Essential Qualifications:
Be registered, or be eligible for registration, in the General Nurse Division of the Register of Nurses kept by the Nursing & Midwifery Board of Ireland [NMBI]
Have nursing experience post-registration preferably in surgical area
Experience & Responsibility:
Carries out nursing care and treatments to the highest possible standard according to agreed Policies, Procedures and Guidelines.
Participate in assessing, planning, implementing and evaluating patient care based on the nursing process approach and maintains appropriate records. Implements discharge planning based on patient care needs, administer medicines, IV drugs, blood/blood products and controlled drugs according to agreed policies. Records and monitors patients post administration according to policy and reports any adverse events or medication errors.
Adheres to Best Practice Guidelines in controlling infection and reports/manage infections as dictated by policy and work closely with Infection Control Nurse. Handles and correctly disposes of medical waste as per hospital policy.
